I was reading about a web based poker radio station last night. They apparently have a regular feature from a guy that studies and talks about poker and laws affecting it.

He stated that the whole Kentucky effort was hatched by a group of lawyers in Chicago. They devised a scheme to bilk the poker industry. They then shopped the idea state to state. The Kentucky Govenor was the only one that took them up on it.

So the Kentucky Governor couldn't really care less about online poker. He is just in it for the possibility that money could be made from the threat of court action. Those lawyers don't care either. They are just trying to milk the legal system for their 40% of any payout.

This does not surprise me. I live in KY and know that our state budget is very strapped. I would say that the guy you heard on the radio was correct. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Lol. No kidding. I dont really get how the lawyers will profit from this though.

Please tell me your joking. The lawyers will charge $400/hr to represent the state in this lawsuit against the poker sites. And charge for every minute they play online for "research".

Also, there are more students studying to be lawyers right now than there are lawyers already. Scary thought.

Lawyers are over-rated and immoral.
The only way to make the big bucks in todays legal system is to have no morals or beliefs IMO

It's actually a really bad time to be a lawyer. The job market it not good at all and many new graduates end up working 80-100 hours a week and still not being able to afford their student loans.

I should have went to grad school.

Yup

I heard about all of this..... If they only knew what they are doing to people, by banning poker from them when it is a good past time for more people that love the game.
