I'm talking about any hand u've seen while playing poker live in the casino or on youtube, when the deck was declared void. Was always curious whenever I watch videos on youtube and one of the all-in players who's drawing dead on the turn would call for a identical card on the river to 'void' the deck.

I've never seen it happen before, nor can I find a video that captures such a incident. Any of you folks have?

They're basically praying for a miracle.

Such 'defective deck' incidents are quite rare. Having one happen during an all-in is really unlikely and the chances of it being on film at the same time... well good luck with that.

This would be VERY rare to actually happen during play. For the most part they will void a deck well before it goes into play. If you have been at a casino playing cash then you have undoubtedly been through the changing of the decks (every 6 hours where I play). The dealer and super will go through the decks card by card (they are pretty quick about it) to ascertain there integrity. They go through the same routine when setting up a tournament, but that usually happens before you arrive.
Once in a while they will find one that's messed up (no 7 of hearts but 2 A of spades) and it is taken out of circulation. And invariably will they find another deck with no A of spades but two 7 of hearts - at least that is what one of the dealers told me.

wow that is amazing considering they check the deck in front of you before putting it into play in live games and before you get there in tourneys. But we are only human and people make mistakes.

Never seen it happen either - as discussed above, the casino will always check the deck to ensure it's correct before it's put into use. It's one of the first things that's drummed into dealers.

One time the auto card shuffling dealy had a little red light that came on and i guess the count on the deck was wrong. They got a new deck and stopped using the card shuffler.

Also one time in a home game I had just taken out two players and all the sudden one of them who was currently holding the deck decided we should count and make sure all the cards were there. Well they were not one of them was behind him and they all wanted to start over. So I took my money and left stupid cheating dush bags.

That happens all the time, and it can be for any number of reasons - usually it's a fault with the shuffler, not the deck itself, though a fault with the deck is possible too.

I seen it happen once. Back room of a bar, cash game that I used to play every Tuesday night, fishy as hell. One night we were playing for a full orbit with less than 40 cards in the deck, in that time frame one guy bust 3 buyins and had left, never told him, it was probably for the best, he was on a suspended for glassing a guy in the middle of the day.

Was playing a 100$ pub tournament once where the deck at my table happened to have 2 king of clubs. Was quiet funny as it was only discovered when one of the players got dealt KcKc.

Probably happens a lot in homes games and a like but odds of it happening in casino are probably extremely low.

This happened several times at Rio over the summer I think one was a 5 figure pot. I remember someone was mad at the floor and he was just like "it happens". Just don't play in the Rio cash games I've heard nothing good about them and heard about a billion **** ups similar to this one.

I wonder if it would be more likely that a deck was voided because someone tried to cheat by adding an "ace up his sleeve" to his hand, then it got added to the deck? Anyone ever seen anyone caught cheating live?

I caught a guy pulling that crap at a house game. We were playing the Lotto LOL a game called In Between the Sheets PL and the pot was up to around $650 the first card was an As He calls the A low second was mysteriously the Kc. He Obviously calls pot and a J comes up. Funny he must not have been paying attention as the Kc had just come up 3 hands earlier and was still in the stack. He tried to deny it but just happened to have the matching deck in his pocket with NO Kc. He left with no money and never came back.

Have seen it twice playing major tournaments. The time I remember clearly was at one of Commerce Casino's major tournament series when two guys get it all in with 99 and put it on table face up, both had the 9clubs. Everyone at table just started cracking up, and everyone from all the tables started rushing over to take a look and a loud buzz grew up throughout the large room. It was very strange at the time and I have never forgotten it.

yeah, as can be seen, it is pretty rare. just wanna get views on some of the more rarely seen situations in poker...

Not to detract from the topic but i found this hand pretty interesting too.

Very interesting... This is kind of scary! Sucks for the player with P7's who just lost an out..

What about a double nut flush draw? haha that would be sick

very intresting video, i cant seem to figure out if that was the best ruling, its hard to be in that kinda situation i imagine

He most certainly was mucking before the hand was resolved - even burying his cards (they did touch the muck) and then the dealer interferes and grabs the cards and flips them over - WTF????

Remember, if you are going to win a hand at showdown, you must show both cards.

yeah, it's important to note that if any of your cards physically touch the muck, your hand can and will be declared dead.

and another good point, to win at showdown, both cards have to be shown.

i think the argument is that the player with the Qhi flush is saying that the player with just the Kc and no flush insinuated a call by showing his Kc and wants him to pay the call. He didn't have a flush.
