Anybody going to Cherokee to try to get into the National Championships?

Just wondering if anybody is going to Cherokee next month to try to win a seat into the wsop National Championships. There are 2 tourneys where the winner gets a seat - a $365 buy-in and a $125 buy-in. I am thinking of driving up and taking a shot at the $125 buy-in. Anybody else going?

I'll be heading there next week T. Arriving either Friday am or Sunday am. I'm not sure if I'll be trying to win a seat in the 2 qualifying MTT's or if I'll play other selected events (SH on Mon, PLO8 on Tue etc, also the Bounty on Tue looks interesting). I want to spend a good bit of time in the cash room also.

Maybe we should freshen this thread to see who is going and have some CC hook-ups. Here's a link to all info

Damn, seriously? Talk about gouging players for every nickel and dime.

Hope you had fun Walt! I could not make it unfortunately. I hope they do this in Cherokee again next summer.

That is actually very cheap for a casino. Vegas casinos charge $20-25 for their resort fee which is the only way you can get wifi.

OK... recap.... Arrived FR and played in the 3A $365. Event 3 was a 3 flight event with normal pay scale plus a bonus entry to the Nationals to the winner.

I raised 2.5x from middle position with AA and BB came back over the top for 14k allin. I snap called with 12k and he showed 44. I had that horrible feeling and sure enough 4 on the river and I hit the rail.

Saturday played well in 3B and made it to level 13 when I ran QQ into AA. That's poker.

Sunday, 10am Seniors event.... 700 or so entrants, CC Hat proudly worn. Ran well early and just small balled it to 100 or so left. Bubble was 63 and short stacks started going paranoid so I picked up 30k or so playing good spots. Made it into the money with a healthy stack of about 60k and then found myself looking at 1010 from BB with two all ins in front of me..... I had them covered so I called. BOOM, they held and I was up to 110k in chips and ko'd 2 runners.

Hit a dry spell and blinded/anted off about 40k. Was on BB and UTG goes all in for 15k.... table folds to SB who calls and I look down at a 62s. 3k to call so I call the priced in. Flop is 862, I hit a BB special. I bet 25k and SB calls. Turn is a 2 and I announce same bet and put another 25k in... SB calls. River is a Q and I go all in with the rest of my chips... SB tanks a bit and calls with A8.

BOOYAH! Big win with junk giving me a very nice top 10 ~150k stack. SB cusses me, calls me an idiot for playing a 62. I calmly ask the dealer to call the floor before I knock the losers teeth out. Floor gives him a orbit sitout penalty so it cost him about 25k for the outburst.... dummy.

Anyways, 5 or so unprofitable orbits later... I peek and my nemisis QQ is sirening back. EP 2x raises the blind to 30k and I 3 bet to 60k. Button shoves all-in with a stack equal to mine. EP insta-folds and I tank. Of course he has JJ methinks. Gut tells me I'm crushed. Nahhhh, he's trying to buy it with 99. Of course I call and he flips AA... the 4th AA shown in the last 4 or 5 orbits, horrible variance. No love on the FTR and I hit the rail in 28th with a little more than a 3x gross. Happy to cash but I should have released the ladies.

Qualla's revenge hit me 4am Monday and I was bed-ridden all day Monday... which was a bummer b/c I really wanted to play the SH $365. Woke up late Tuesday am and didn't feel it.... so I packed up and headed home.

Ran into D Ferg with his CC hat on and said hello on the way to cash out my RING games $$.

Great job in the seniors. I am going to try to play that event at the circuit stop in December. Can't believe a player would call you an idiot and curse at you. Unbelievable. Glad you called the floor on him.

T, there's another Seniors scheduled this Sunday...

Yeah, the guy went nuts b/c I played it... hell I was priced in, would have called any 2. Actually one other player called the floor directly while I was asking the dealer to.... he was obnoxious earlier to another player.... I think that's why floor nailed him with the penalty.
