It would be nice.I have only won smaller amounts like$100 to $1,000 tourney but nothing ever huge like a 100k or 50k .I can only play what my bank roll can afford.Maybe I should play more satellite/qualifier tourneys.I'll be going to work in the morning as for now.

trouble is with me, anytime i have got a decent amount in my account, enough to play at a higher level, the girlfriend/life/bills make me have to withdraw funds and start all over again

having said that, its paid for a couple of trips to amsterdam, thats about it

this is what i had in mind. i think that the higher u play , the more profit u can make. so yea i agree with this although i cant be sure if its true since i havent played too high...YET. but thanks for posting man.

It kinda obvious that when you play higher stakes you will become profitable bc a small win is worth so much more. If you play micros and sit down with 10$ and double up in a session you just doubled your money,(obviously) Now think about sitting down with $1000 and doubling up, now it has become profitable for you. So thats where you make your money. It seems so simple, I can't believe nobody has mentioned this as of yet. So to become successful we have to be able to 'beat' the level you are at. So we start with micros and work our way up, learning as much as we can at each stake level and being disicplined and stacking up. Once your bankroll gets big enough to move up in levels you should have enough knowledge and 'game' to play in the higher level. I personally play poker so I don't have to have a boss. I'll take grinding $500 to $1000 a week over working a 9 to 5 anyday!

Yea but in order to play for 1000$, like you say above, you must have at least 50k behind to be able to comfortably absorb the variance.

Initial question was: HOw do we make that 50K.

EDIT: this was my favorite thread. Where did u dig this out from? Oh, and im still not rich yet. This is gonna be a long ride.......

My view, a site like pokerstars in this day and age their are so many grinders at 10NL and beyond good players with good knowledge its not an easy ride.
Even some of the very good players have break even months in cash,

If anyone here wants to get rich Titan/888/ or some gambling renowned poker site is the way forward, The initial investment to play cash 50NL would be worth it and super soft

I dream of this as well. My job pays me well and I really only enjoy live poker, so my play time is limited. It would be awesome to get really good, retire early and just play poker to earn some coin.

Nope

No matter how well I play it seems people always catch unlikely cards. I've lost more than I'd like to think about.

95% of players are losers

i play poker cause i believe its going to make me rich . ive been playing for like 3 years and i have gotten pretty good. Im not rich yet but i plan on getting there. Ive made a thousand here and a thousand there(mostly tourney wins) and made the withdrawal . rich to me would be making 100k profit. so i dont mean rich rich i just mean "made some noticeable money"
after trying and trying and trying im still not there yet and sometimes i feel as though the dream will dissapear due to not making it where i wanna be.ive heard so many stories of guys who depostied say 50 or 100 dollars and turned it into millions ..bla bla bla.... QUESTION: who are these guys and how did they do it. do u have to start off at 1000 deposit? play in certain limits? what the heck is the winning recipe. anyone ? any information on this ? thanks in advance. Do u actually know someone who started small and made it big.? im not talking about deposited big and made big money. im talking about started small and made it big. really big... and im not talking about winning the sunday million either, mostly about cash games.

i got like 5 close friends .they are all grinders.they spend hours every day in casinos online etc etc.and they r not bad players i assure u. none of them have gone busto but none of them are driving a ferrari yet either. Do super consistent and profitable players even exist? and please dont tell me u havent ever asked urself this question.

this is a real fact: 95 % of players are losers, and just less than 1% get rich (speaking of more thank 1m a year),

it doesn´t mean you can not make the 5%, but you have to study, prepare, and reduce your mistakes to a minimun,

I'm not sure that 1/100 players is making more than 1 million a year.... That sounds pretty absurd. Like we have more than 100K members here which is a pretty significant sample size and I don't think we have ANY players making a million plus a year. In fact.... I'm not sure there's more than like a VERY elite few making that much. I think it's probably closer to correct if we say 0.00000001% of players make a million plus per year.

Yeah I mean obviously there's big mtt winners but I'd say there are maybe 10-20 people in poker who have an ev of over a million and maybe it's not even that many whereas don't like 100 million at least play poker?

How many cash players do you think there are in the world right now that ACTUALLY WIN over 100K a year playing poker.?

And can do it for like 3 years in a row..

A decent amount, probably a few thousand, especially if you include all the online sites and live. Change 100k to a million however and like I said it's just so few.

Most rich folks aren't rich because they're stupid.

-
What do you mean "rich folks aren't rich"? Aren't rich spiritually or what? Does it matter when it goes about money.

Concerning the topic. Can't say got rich playing poker, it is just enough for. Even thought of playing some lotto online like Powerball to skyrocket my finances.

Really my friend, taking these figures that began with the poker on line currently do not know anyone in on line that had so great that growth. But I try every day playing cents with guaranteed prize pool tournaments to reach such an outcome. We have very good tournaments for that. $ 0.11, $ 0.27, $ 0.55, $ 0.82, $ 1, $ 1.35, $ 2.2. These are the tournament game to raise my bankroll to play bigger game. I decided that I will not deposit more.

The problem is to play higher stakes you have to be rich.

I haven't gotten rich playing poker. However, the game has allowed me to live my life on my own terms. That is worth more than anything to me.

I haven't read all the posts in the thread but I don't think I saw an active CC member with 100K+ in winnings posting in here.

I think it has become harder and harder to make it big in poker. If I ever get to 100K+ it will probably be a lucky bink from some site promotions. I don't expect to be able to slowly grind it out to 100K.

Hi Vinyl
Good post and good question I often think the same. For me, I'm a winning player (I mostly finish in top cash positions) but I always take a chance on high stakes and lose, then have to start again. This time I'm managing my bankroll. I have set myself a 48 day challenge to turn $8 into $80. If I succeed I will be attempting $80 to $800 in 48 days, and so on. If you want to follow my progress, the post is in the poker forums here: https://www.cardschat.com/forum/pok...-46/8-80-48-days-grow-5-a-266313/#post2667721

Feel free to join me in this challenge
