My lo8 and Omaha game in general is pretty weak
Ideally I'd like to change that, best book? online blogs? online vids?
Thanks.
I've heard the Jeff Hwang book is overall quite good (it covers both O and O8).
But to tell you the truth O8 is such a straight forward game it is really not too hard to get a handle on.
Some basic ideas are:
Avoid paying much (at all) to draw to half a pot. (except in special circumstances)
Middle straights are intrinsically poisonous.
Play hands that have a lock on 1/2 the pot and high-redraw as if they were the nuts.
Pocket pairs (even aces) are easily overvalued.
A set is a drawing hand at best 80% of the time.
Sometimes it is right to risk getting 1/4ered when the price/draw is right.
You need to be able to handle post flop play well in a big bet version of the game, and you need to be able to just stick to your guns
odds wise in a limit game.
I think of "Starting hands" as more of a texture, than strict situations. Position is more important than ever, and look for tables with dumb fish.
