Another Bankroll Question

I have been subscribing to the 5% bankroll practice and after a couple of nice 2nd place finishes in $4.40 180 SNG's, I have built my bankroll up to $450. I normally play $5.50 MTT's and SNG's. Now that I have built up my bankroll, should I move up to $11 SNG's or $20 SNG's?(which would be 5% of my bankroll)

A point that I did leave out, I am strict on the 5% rule and I play 2% of my bankroll for MTT's.

I have tried a few $11 SNG's and got pounded so I am wondering if I should play a set amount of games at the $11 level before I move up in stakes.

Before you decide to move up, you have to know that you are a winning player. How many hands have you played in the $4.40's and $5.50's?

I do not know exactly how many hands I have played. Overall for the year, I am not a winning player but for the last six weeks since reading a couple of books and following the 5% "rule" I have been winning. Of course I would like to keep this trend going, so at what point do I determine that I should move up to the next stake level?

are you a better MTT player or SNG player? or better yet, where does most of your money come from?

If the 4.40/180s work for you, stick with 'em. Now that you have built up your 'roll a bit, you can branch out to other venues, but don't adandon what's working for you. I play these jewels a lot, and competition is really soft, for the most part. I've final tabled a dozen or so in the last 3 months, so I keep going back.

If you like MTTs, PS has double stack tournaments at both $5 and $10 that are worth the time as well.

I ask the same question as royal. Stick with what works and remember every step up the ladder means more sharks and less fish. It all depends on how aggressive you want to be with your BR. If you are placing in 60 % of your sitn gos use 40xx bb as rule of thumb. If you are placing 70% plus and mostly 1st and 2nd in 10 mans I would say 20 xx bb. Play by feel and dont over play you roll as you can lose it on a swing as fast as you made it. I dont care how good you play the game there is always another person playing well also and if they play the odds like you they will win from time to time especially as you move up the ladder. Pott odds hand value is all that matters. Know your outs and always be the aggressive player when the flop hits for you. Be patient as it sounds like you already are. Just dont overplay you bank roll and you should make some good dough. I cant stress this enough as even I learned the hard way while I was on a rush. Also Mtt's placing percentage will always be lower and has way more risk potential to play. I always win a few games at the sit n gos then if things go well I will take a shot here in there at the big mtt's. Take big shots only if you are way up for the day. Always set rules and try to end on a good note. Then in time you should have thousands of dollars and reap major benefits as time go on. I think that I am going to stick with the $5.50 SNG's (I like the 18's the best for my time constraints) for the time being. I am not cashing in enough to move up. Once I see that I am cashing in quite a bit I will try moving up here and there.
