So, Annie duke has a new book out called, as the title to the thread suggests "Decide to Play Great Poker". Has anyone bought this and have any views on it? I'm constantly seeing tweets to her praising the book so I was curious if anyone concurs with those views?

Yea, I am too. I haven't seen it, nor will I buy it as I didn't really like her last book(granted that was 6 years ago). All of the tweets about it seem extremely fabricated IMO(I'm sure many feel the same way). "After reading your book I plugged 5 leaks and I'm amazing now" or ""I just read your new book and that night I got 2nd in a huge tourney, then the next day I explained what your book talked about to my buddy and he took second in a huge tourney!!!" Know what I mean? That's all the tweets are.

Yeah, I completely agree, hence my skepticism about it. Intrigued if anyone here has any actual reviews rather than ones I'm wary of trusting.

Maybe this book is poorly titled, but it sounds more to me like a motivational book than a strict strategy guide. If that is what your into than that is fine. Realistically, poker is a game of cooler heads prevailing more often than not. If this book is about a mindset to great poker, I may actually be pretty interested.

Unfortunately, I haven't bought one poker book yet. This probably shouldn't be my first one.

I was looking for a review more on the book itself rather than just the title. Excerpts suggest it's very strategy based.

I just read a pretty long excerpt on amazon. While I know Duke isn't popular in some circles, I have to give her her due. The excerpts seem pretty impressive. She is emphasizing teaching ways of thinking as opposed to rules. For one thing she does not give a starting hand chart. Her discussion on raising seemed excellent.

Its definitely not some quickly thrown together hack beginners book. I may have to pick this one up.
