I thought gambling was supposed to be illegal in most of America outside Nevada but there seem to be casinos all over the place.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_casinos_in_the_United_States

Do casinos in other states actually have poker?
Do other big cities like San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles have tournaments?
California deemed Poker a game of skill way back in the 80's. So there's tournaments all over the state. Here in the Sacramento area, there's 8-10 cardrooms with tourneys all the time. Even WPT or wsop qualifiers. Plus we are close enough to Reno, also. They have some good poker action, too.

Have you ever heard of Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut? Foxwoods is the largest casino in the world, with 340,000 square feet of gaming space in a complex that covers 4.7 million square feet. The have a huge poker room and WPT events are held there every year.

And it's in the middle of nowhere......

The largest poker scene in the world is in So. Cal. More Poker in California than in Vegas every day. All sorts of availability at Indian Casinos. ^There must be 150 or so in California?

There are also a lot of Indian casinos across the country. I live in Michigan and we have quite a few of them to choose from and the majority have poker rooms. The one I play at isn't huge or anything but it has 10 tables.

The world series of poker circuit takes place during the course of like 8 months or so and hits many of the big cities around the US... Atlantic City, New Orleans, St. Louis, Omaha, Indianapolis... and a bunch of others.

Here in the Midwest (Iowa, Ill,In, MO,) all have river boats and the ones around Chicago all have poker. There are also some Indian reservations that have gambling in Wisc. and MI. but I am not sure if they all have poker but I do know some of them do.

The poker in the US varies from state to state. I live in minnesota and we can only play limit or spread limit games for cash tables. I think the max game allowed is 30/60 too. One card room runs a 2-60 spread limit game with a 200$ max buy in so it plays a lot like 1/2 NL. I live within an hour from three card rooms/casinos and most of them have tournaments every day ranging from 40$ buy in up to 500$ and they occassionaly have special events with larger buy ins.

I live in Iowa which has the highest casino/people ratio or any state next to Nevada. I think Minnesota has the third. There are 7 within an hour or so of where i live Davenport iowa. Pretty much all of them have poker or some sort and a lot have tourneys weekly if not more. Doubt many people out there will come to iowa for that. But if anyone happens to be passing through now you know.

u'd also think it be illegal in Texas, wehre everything is illegal lol
but they haev so many casinos down here its not even funny, well kinda haha

but most of them are owned by natives, i think indian natives is what they are called, like the tribe kind, u know the ones who were here before everyone else, the white ppl, etc..

anyhow ive gone to a few, very cool casinos and everythign the only thing that sux is that instead of paying u in real money they pay u in tickets,, then u have to go cash in teh tickets its ridiculous,,, i get lazy and dont cash them in so i end up putting it back into the slot machines,, so i guess thats how they get u

but i ended up winning 5k one of the diamonds machine in eagle pass texas, got all 9 diamonds it was super cool, except when they take the 1250 tax cut ,

I live in Missouri. We have poker in several casinos across the state. With the recent removal of a $500 max loss rule, the games are expected to get bigger with higher buy in tourneys, opening the door for the WSOP Circuit to come to St. Louis in April.

All the casinos in Missouri are on boats on the river, though. They can't actually be on land.. it's weird like that. Though, I love Missouri's casinos! Use to play at Harrah's in KC every now and then, won a few times there in their $30 tournaments.

This is the only thing reason why I didn't want to move from Kansas City.. WSOP Circuit in Omaha, which is 3 hours from KC, and WSOP Circuit in St. Louis, which is 4 hours from KC, haha.

Closest WSOP Circuit tournaments from Florida will be in New Orleans in May.

Surprisingly enough there are legal card rooms in 33 of the 50 states. And in other states are there questionable(legality) gaming clubs such as in Ohio.
