Has any one noticed a difference in online style of play between the different countries. I play a lot in the mornings and early afternoons and I am playing against mostly Europeans, Russians and so forth. I see a lot of very aggressive players from Russia. Where there is not so much from the Europeans. Any comments.

Italians are the craziest players I've seen. Brazilians are usually pretty strong. Germans can go either way. I dont have an informed opinion about russians though. Italians make freakin crazy plays.

I would say that it's dangerous to decide how someone plays based on where they come because your opponent may be aware of this stereotype and use it against you.

Your post probably proves that these stereotypes don't hold much sway because you seem to suggest continental Europeans tend to shy away from aggression, whereas I would've thought that they were perceived as pretty aggressive, especially Scandinavians.

Yes, I have noticed. I play on lots of different sites, and I have to change my game accordingly.
But I dont see that big differences between players from different countries on the same site.

I would echo the warning against prejudging people based on where they are from. You need to make sure that 100% of your assessment is from the hands you have played with them and the decisions they have made on the table and not where they have decided to live. While it may be fun to talk about this no good can come of it when it comes to your game.

Americans and Canadians bluff a lot...(not all, but I keep an open eye on their betting)
Some are very strong, and that comes from longer experience...!

Russians, have an aggressive style, because they like to make money fast and think it's going that way.
(Some are stronger, but they play not too aggressive)

Italians, I agree..!!! Have seen some and they bet on any two like they have AA!!!

Some south Americans play aggressive too, but not bad(so I am careful with those guys!)

Met less french players, but the ones I played think are pretty good players.

In the end, it really doesn't count from where a player comes from.
Be respectful and play them as they are strong, until you know they are not.

Anyways I think more respect on the tables would be good for all.
You don't need to be an a-hole to win...

France has effectively been 'cut-off' from the rest of the world in terms of online poker

The French government passed a law recently that legalised online poker for French residents, but they can only play on French-run sites.

LOL - obv :)

I definitely think we've got the best timezone in the world though: when Americans are online playing drunk and tired on a Friday or Saturday night it's Saturday / Sunday daytime for us, we're fresh as daisies and they make easy pickings :p

america should stop trying to compare, compete or fight with with 'the world' :boxing: :proud::rolleyes:

aint no win there

re the question eastern euros play loose IMHO. Chinese gangs will destroy you, roms work together, watch out for a few of any nationality at your table

dont worry about americans, they think colluding is bad, unless they r from cape cod, west virginia or carolina

The way I see it is this way:

I, like the rest of americans got into poker during the big 'hype of 2003' with the moneymaker story. This is still happening in america big time. I think (no supporting information for this, post some if there is) that there are more american poker players overall. My opinion is probably skewed because i have only played on sites accepting US players, but i think that it is obvious that the more american poker players at a time, the more american donkeys available. Does this make sense?

I am interested to hear what you guys think about this..
