In the last few weeks several sites have had major updates to their software. Full Tilt, bodog, pokerstars, Carbon and others as well.

Once the new updates are installed, do you not tend to find that your system runs slower even more so when you are running multiple sites at the same time.

I cant for example run Bodog and Full Tilt together. It just lags up so badly that its impossible to play, so I have to choose one or the other.

Thats got me thinking, do you suppose the software developers are deliberateley making the software slower so that if you want to use it you have to shut down other sites and therefore concentrate solely on their site. Thus more depositing and greater revenue.

Perhaps its me being overly suspicious, but its strange that they are all changing their software almost together and once they've done it if you want to play their site you have to close others down first.

I too have noticed an exorbitant number of update recently, but I doubt the reasons are that malicious.

I imagine it's more "Keeping up with the Joneses"

Each site is adding new functionality, trying to keep abreast of (or not lag too far behind) the others.

I noticed that the latest Doyle's Room update changed the Join/Leave button on the bottom of tourney menu's to an actual Join or Leave button, depending upon whether you had registered.

So, no I do not believe they are trying to lure you their site by monopolizing your resources.

Yes some sites run slower after upgrades, but thats usually due to graphics upgrades, no site wants to slow your play, remember they make thier money on rakes, the more hands played the more rakes per hr.

I think you missed the point of this topic. The point isn't that sites want your computer to run slower, it's that they want you to not be able to run another site at the same time.

And I'm pretty sure there is no such effort by the sites. Sounds like you're just a bit too suspicious. Running two of any decent sized program will slow down your computer significantly; it's not just among two poker sites.

I don't think it's deliberate to keep you on their site but I have noticed FTP using more resources and slowing down since the last update. My guess is that their code just needs a little more optimization and it will go back to normal after the next upgrade.
