I know its lame, my first post and im whining. I just couldnt help my self so im writing about bizarre occurrences and progressing belief that im cursed or poker sites have some nasty software which use some sort of lose picker.
I started online poker maybe year ago, in beginning i had won few tourneys and thats all. Ive got hooked, started to play cash tables more often, sits and so on, constantly losing, but im persist guy even when its about of failing.
Few months ago i promised myself i wont deposit a penny, i had that strange fixation that im gonna build bankroll doing freerolls and recently i succeed, made some cash just for start. Forgot to say i played many poker rooms and noticed that every time no matter what room is about, without difference, after i win few bucks on freeroll i lose it with most brutally hands when i move on cash table , for example, lost flush with ace from strait flush and just in next hand lost from same guy who scored four of kind while he had only highest pair on flop, he did shove cause there was possibility for strait which i wanted to chase, i decided to call his all in and boom, two more cards opened his four of a kind of Qs. Wont go with more examples cause to be realistic its damn boring to reed, but situations where i had lose in such way is countless. So i cant ask you guys what im doing wrong i only can ask myself am i idiot whos gonna go force and keep losing, hope im not, but now im really not so sure, i will try to uninstall all of my poker Apps and see for how long will change my mind.

Probably should read some beginners books or sites. Also try and break up your post into paragraphs cause it's kinda hard to read, best of luck to you either way.

Think books cant educate you in playing poker, its all about odds, positioning and stuff like that, and yes i tried to read some online books but thats all basics which i believe i outgrew.... cant compare reading books with knowledge you can gain by playing yourself and specially watching how big names plays.

I wouldnt be surprised the variance is meassured equally. thats why so many people break even online
and it seems rigged to them.
its just the laws of variance.

Yes thats what im talking about, and have feeling im going paranoid, but how is mathematicaly possible to get two consequently beats by unreal hand from same guy, i mean its matematicaly possible just odds are larger then your gona get hit by thunder at sunny day. i mean losing highest flush by strait flush and then in next hand by quads. never saw that and never heard for such case.

Perhaps you should take a few days of vacation away from the poker. With regard to the books, you can read a few articles related to the level that you play. Get another perspective of the game always is good.

Personally I feel like you have a semi valid opinion.

However I do feel that some rooms FEEL alot safer where others feel RIGGED.

You know that feeling.... when you got a guy beat all in after you have seen the flop? He is a super long shot then you imagine runner runner and it happens and you lose? Seems for me it's always happened on pokerstars for some reason and abit on partypoker.

Currently im on 888poker and it seems ok so far. A few times ive seen a monster come though but for the most part it seems and feels fair LOL.

Also I love it cuz I can play on my phone!!

If a room is giving you trouble just try another one. Sometimes honestly that's all it takes.

That is poker. This is going to happen to you whether you are playing live or playing online. It just seems to happen online more because you see more hands than you would live.

If you dont like a room or site you are playing...move. You need to be comfortable at the sites/tables you are at to do well. Also if you take a bad beat leave. You dont have to stay at a table to try to chase money you lost. Especially if you have the option to play multiple big sites full tilt/stars. Not everyone has that luxury.

I know that probably that hands that you mentioned were the hardest ones, but I doubt that everytime you lose, you lose for straight flush or 4 of kind. Also, you were probably were in the table with more money that you should, so, a bad beat will affect you a lot more than if you were playing according the bankroll management. I know it's easy to say and it's a lot more difficult to follow the poker rules, but if you don't, it's difficult to have a long journey on poker.

Bad beats and variance are part of the game, you'll have to deal with it if you want to play poker. Take a short break if the beats are really getting to you. That will give you time to think it through, and you might realize things that you didnt' realize when you were tilted!
If you want to play without depositing, it can take a while before you can actually build a bankroll. Some sites have better freerolls than others, check out several sites and download several of them so you can play many freerolls at once. Also, keep your eye out for bonuses, sometimes you can just deposit and withdraw the money to obtain tickets, or the website gives you free money.
Keep on learning the game, regardless of your method (books, poker forums, videos, etc.), while building your bankroll. Hopefully, you'll have a starting bankroll when you become more skilled!

I know we're in a forum about poker, but you can also consider to stop playing poker, at least for a period of about 5-6 months.

The game have to bring pleasure to you, not pain or anger.
If you miss the poker AFTER a long period, can restore the happiness of playing.

Hi, i think i am in this situation too, and i know why, its because i am playing too many hours, i am really tired and stressed at this moment of my life.

What you are living at the moment is reflected on poker, at the tables, my strategy now is stop playing for a while and i really need stop to solve the emotional problems that i have now, they are not related to poker.

But stop for a while is really good, and is really good to have the perception that something is not going right.

Good luck at your reflection.

I myself was on break playing video games and watching movies for about two weeks. Then I started playing again and I was much less angry when I lost and also I don't play so often hands in bad situations. I play more thoughtfull and don't try all ins preflop. I think it was a good deal for me to take a break above all because I don't want to get aggressive after loosing.

It happens to a lot of us. I was experiencing the same thing as you did a few weeks back and even wondered if my laptop was hacked and someone could see my hole cards or if the poker site had 'marked' me to consistently lose even when I had the best hand pre-flop, flop and even turn.

Everyone says its variance and I've read that sadly, as much as we'd like to wish and believe, variance doesn't even out. I'm still on a poker break and taking time to read the forums, see how other members play or react with certain cards and situations. I think when I no longer feel agitated when I think about losing to a donk, then I know I can take the game on again and come out a better player (maybe even a winner).

Also, if you're on Stars, you might want to try out the Poker School Online and read up their course material. Been doing that and even signed up for live training. Tournaments and cash games require very different plays. So maybe if you can avoid getting trapped, you might want to change your playing style.

Additional thing to note, something I've learnt here, don't chase your draw and premium hands are always monsters pre-flop but can be really crap and weak. Have to learn to let go of them hands, no matter how pretty they are, and yes, play with position.

Well said, im aware that im bored and depressed. There is reason for that situation and it is more and more progressing in something worse. But enough said.Im playing 8 poker rooms atm, spending roughly 14 hours per day playing them all, irony is i never tried full tilt poker which would be best synonym for my mental state:)

Wont lie to my self that im not going to play any more in my life or forcing my self on some determined period. Im going to reduce time gradually, first im gonna stop to play rooms that are most going on my nerves, thats first step and i wont think about next one till i make realization of first one.

Well, for me you are not completely seeing the situation, you are in denial when you speak about full tilt, and you are looking for something or someone to blame.

Changing poker client will not change the way you are playing. I had the same thoughts in the passed, and i was thinking that pokerstars was the cause of all my problems at poker, but it was not. I know that i made bad decisions, was me, i pressed the button.

Until i realised that something was really wrong , i used to blame the others players , the software, that's so wrong!

You made a decision based in what you are and in what you believed, you pressed that button not the others. did you understand what i mean? you really are playing too many hours, it is a fact. The major problem is when you dont want to see the full picture.

I had a few days on poker that i made a lot of money and i played in a brilliant way, i was 100% concentrated on the game, my mind was there, no doubts.
And the other days i started to play with a wrong mind set, i lost money and i never had the hability to forget those brilliant days, and that killed me because i started to feel so frustrated, and i was addicted with ideia of making easy money too fast. that's so wrong! Again.

And what depresses me most, is the fact that i know that when i have a clean mind, i can do really good decisions. I was not able to analyse by my self that in those days, the last thing that could be a good decision was playing poker. That'what i need to work on.

With that said, good luck in your journey

Think you totally got me wrong there, or my english is not good enough to express what i ment with that sentence, full tilt was just word that described state of my mind in literal way, not my desire to try that poker room.

Over the years, this forum has seen a number of people who believe the only reason they lose at the entry level is that they're cursed. The fact of the matter is that while those games aren't quite as soft as they once were, it still requires only a modest degree of knowledge and ability to be a winning player. I'm not talking about crushing them or being profitable every session, just winning overall.

Frankly, if anyone is losing at this level over a reasonable sample size, the most likely reason by far is the obvious one, insufficient knowledge / skill *applied at the tables*. I add this qualifier because I've seen a fair number of people who don't fully play up to the level of knowledge they show in their posts.

Your losing & you believe you have, "long since outgrown" the basic advice offered by poker books. They call this The Perfect Storm scenario. How long can you hold your breath? :)

I agree with that .Sometimes I need a rest from poker. take the pressure away and come back with a positive attitude

i have been playing properly for a few years now and still feel the need to read and learn. You can never know it all and it is good to refresh your knowledge. you can get into bad habits sometimes without even realizing it.

As the saying goes, texas holdem takes a minute to learn, and a lifetime to master. just keep working to improve your game and remember that that's what the pro's do and how they got so good. They are always working on their game.
