I did a intro post in the little drop thread, but thought that I should post 1 here as well:

Hey everyone, thanks for the invite to the forum and for allowing me to be on the team to represent this wonderful forum!

My name is Ryan Laplante, I am a 24 year old from the USA (grew up in MN).

I've been playing tournament poker professionally for the last 4 years. Over my short career I have played over 27,000 MTT's, have spent over 1500 hours coaching others, and have been fortunate enough to make 3 wsop final tables.

When I'm able to travel and play online, I play on pokerstars under the Screenname Protentialmn.

I post somewhat regularly onto 2+2 forums and Reddit Poker under the name Protential.

My 2+2 Blog

My Website

My Twitter

I plan on posting here somewhat regularly as time permits. Feel free to fire any questions you may have.

Nothing more fun than running deep in a large field mtt, or even a small field one for that matter.

I also love the complexity of them and how many adjustments they require for you to make based on so many factors. Always lots to learn in them, always lots of fun!

What are some of the other live events that you like to participate in besides the WSOP?

I'd love to do lots of traveling, so some EPT's, APPT, LAPT, WSOPA, WPT, etc. would all be great. (I've only played in the EPT Grand Final before, only time I've been outside of NA.)

Hey tourney grinder!

What are some of your favorite live tourney events besides the WSOP?

I like deep stacks/good structures in the $1,000 and under range.

I want to expand my reach to some more North America events. combination travel/vacation/poker.

The only series that really has that are MSPT (mid-states poker tour) events, they are great structured and valued events throughout the mid-west. Their mains are all $1,100.

For smaller buy-in stuff that is good value, Venetian Deepstacks events not during the summer are all decent structured and have a lot of buy-ins in the 250$-$1,100 range when they run.

Do you play cash? If so, How do you make the transition from MTT's to cash? Do you tend to play the same style? I feel my game best fits me in MTT's, but when I play cash, I seem to always break even or lose:confused: Ty in advance:) and welcome to CC!!

Oh. I missed question time? I got a good one. How did you become pro and get the bankroll? What made you wanna become a poker pro? In part of that question, how did you build up your bankroll? MTT big cash? Cash tables? What games? etc. :)

Hey Ryan welcome to Cardschat, I too enjoyed following the teams exploits during the WSOP.

If I can give you some advice, just keep posting as you are and you'll soon get into the freeroll club, just don't start asking for the pw before then :D

We don't like to mention the Venetian around these parts since Adleson is well to put it nicely.. A douche

=O

Welcome to the Forum it's always good ot have a MTT player to hush up WVH and his ring games :p

Toughest opponents have definitely been good young online professionals. Especially those who have live results as well.

Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu, would love to play vs both of them.

Yes, I play some live cash.

Cash games allow you to see more flops and requires you to play more post flop, it also allows you to play closer to real equity. Because of this I have put extensive time into becoming a better post flop player and becoming used to playing a wider range of hands pre-flop vs raises and playing better in multi-way pots.

I play very differently between cash games and MTTs.

I started off in super micro stakes and grinded up, then got a backing deal for micro-lowstakes and grinded up.

I love the game, and wanted to do for a living what I enjoy.

I've only really played MTT's and MTT SNGs in order to build my roll and make a living. Around 98% of my total volume lifetime has been under a backing deal of some kind.
