YouTube - Absolute Poker Superuser "POTRIPPER" Cheating (Part 1 of 4)

this is the link to the cheater potripper on absolute poker. Just watch it and let me know whatt u guys think. let me remind you guys this is a $1,000 No limit holdem tournament not sure how many people were in it but i guess if you watch the ending and see how many chips he has and divide by how many chips everyone starts with you can tell how many people are in it. Bottom line he makes a killing, just to have the ability to see everyones bluff, and weakness and the cards you are up against and have been folded by everyone else how cant you win?

Let me know what u all think

OMG. He was so subtle, you'd never know! NOT. I saw the 60 Minutes piece on it also. If he wasn't so greedy he might not have gotten caught. He was off the chart lucky (An actual graph they showed.)

LOL - I called Myself PotRipper on one of the Everleaf poker rooms to put the fear of God into my opponents. Can't remember which skin off hand.

EDIT: Just watched it. They started with 10,000 chips with blinds of 5/10 - that's 1000 big blinds to start with! I'd love to play this format online.. Usually I'm used to starting with 50 or 100 big blinds. I guess you'd have to buy into a big tournament ($1000), not the little $10 crappy ones I play!

Watching that video makes me want to meet up with him and have a little chitchat, while carrying out unspeakable acts against his person.

Absolutely crazy...if this guy had played things a little more discretely, he could still be doing it...makes me wonder if others are a little smarter about it...It would be impossible to play against someone like this, must have driven players at his table insane with no play working against him ever...Someone in a tourney once accused me of doing this because I called a nine high bluff with a jack high, but it was just an accidental call due to playing too many tables at once. Pretty sure it put fear in the rest of the table though

Lollz DB ................. after I watched it ( well during actually, oh, and I have seen it before ) I imagined I was standing behind him watching him steal and cheat. I imagined that I called out his name Russ/Ross/Potripper/cheat/thief and startled him. Then I imagined my fist in his face as he turned around. Then I .......... well then I.......... well, you get the idea. I do hope to meet him one day though. :D

I honestly always thought that the rumors of people doing stuff like that were fakes, you have to wonder how many people have done it more covertly and how many people have been cheated...Can't imagine the other people at this guys table didn't catch on eventually, no one is that good in person, let alone online. I hope the sites that had this happen on their watch repayed those who were ripped off, if only to prove that people can trust playing there.

i think this happens a lot more than we think,, but i feel pokersites want to keep there sites as free from bad publicity as they can,, if its going to happen we as the punters will never be allowed to find out about it..

I wonder if this is not a fake. It looks like potripper filmed his own session and then posted it on youtube or somewhere. Why would he do that? If he really could see all the cards, I bet it's best to keep this to himself and never tell anyone, win a few juicy tourneys and forget about this before get caught. Now the site can find him out, or at least block his account etc. Makes no sense to me.

Do you think the two largest sites, Stars and FT have more safeguards against this than absolute did?

Well this is a very intresting post. Maybe this is where the arguement over online poker being rigged or not began. This only confirms my worst fears and will certainly make me more nervous when I see ppl call unbeleivable hands and hit. how many other ppl have this crack for the sites? What sites other than Absolute can they do it on? It would b very easy to cover urself using this tool to make a fortune. All u would have to do is use it only on big money tourneys and not on mid to low limit ring games and SnGs. Would be hard for them to catch it would seem. This really sucks and I wish I hadnt seen this thread, lol. It was better when it was just a rumor or conspiracy theory.

BTW, some time ago there was a thread with some guys stats - like a few lost ~$11 torneys and sngs, and then a (if I remember correctly) sunday 750k$ guarantee, or another tournament of this size that he won. I think his name wasn't potripper, but stats like this may indicate another "superuser"

ive seen the video before and its sick. actually i was just on youtube the other day and there are people on pokerstars and fulltilt that can do it also.

it really makes one wonder if sometimes your playing with someone who can see what you are doing and makes you wonder about the security of online poker in general.

Can't offer any proof to the authenticity of the video but I do know that this guy was real and he bilked hundreds of thousands off players. He was a former or current employee who knew how to access this feature. It was a segment on 60 Minutes and according to some of the thread responses in CC some of the money, if not all, was returned to those cheated. If I'm not mistaken he also happens to be a former wsop champ.
Or am I mixing up two stories?

I think you're mixing this story with Justin Bonomo, ZeeJustin, who cheated in online poker by playing multiple seats at the same high stakes tables. He has done quite well for himself in live play since.

What kills me with the PotRipper fiasco, is if he was simply smart enough to have some idea of the game, he would likely never have been caught. He would just be another "great" player. But by making downright impossible calls, he cost himself everything.

This is the final hand of the tournament, and the one that caused CrazyMarco to request hand histories, because he felt there was no way possible that his opponent could call him down so light

Do the poker sites let empoyees play at their sites?
I know alot of casinos discourage play in the casino you work for. Not actually against the rules, but they strongly recomend gameing at other casinos to their employees.

Yeah thats pretty obvious when the guy call over $200,000 on the turn with only 10 high and no draws...very sick. Does anyone know if CRAZYMARCO got any money back from Ultimate Bet?

This all happened over a year ago I think. Not sure about the authenticity of the video's but at the very least, it's a demonstration of what that rat was getting up to. He was working for Absolute at the time so had access to privy info/software etc.

I think it was actualy a friend of his that worked for AB...
And this video is authentic.

I agree with this so much.
Imagine if he had been smart enough to play "normal" poker, lose some pots but obvs. minimize thouse loses and even have some losing season.
If he had not been so greedy he could have maked like 20M+ a year and every one would just think he where the best player on the planet.

Lucky for us, cheaters tend to dumb and greedy :)

I have been very dubious about claims of cheaters, but as others have commented... he wasn't very smart about how he approached it, but I guess it's possible someone else is doing similar things and is smarter about it. Still... there are a lot of online poker players so what are the odds the cheater would be at your table. Surely he won't be playing at the bottom of the pool with me!! He'd be playing at least medium-level stakes.
