quoted from the wsop website ... http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/tourney/updatelander--new.asp?rr=3

An announcement had been made earlier that table #90 WOULD be the starting feature table of the day and it included Ivey.

Sorry, But You WON'T Be At the Feature Table

According to one member of the ESPN camera crew, Phil Ivey's table (table #90 in the orange section) was supposed to be the feature table to start the day. Everyone at the table was not only going to get a chance to play at the feature table with one of the greatest players in the game, but they'd also be lined up to receive about $10,000 in sponsorship money from various companies. Ivey didn't want to be seated at the feature table and he got his wish. Everyone at the table was pretty irritated at this decision. This was all according to the camera crew and we'll have to wait and see if any of the players go after Ivey a little bit more throughout the day.

Could be, but I don't know if it is true. Ivey is a super sick player, but I don't know that his ROI in the WSOP is 800% (without endorsements/etc) to make up that money.

*shrugs*

If it's even true, he's more likely to file it alongside at-table massages than he is tournament entry fees. Keep in mind this is a guy who goes out of his way to sneak in the side door at the WSOP.

I like this guy. He plays very good poker: bluffing, raising, folding at the right time and he usually lucky too. After Juanda, he's my second fav poker player. :)
If I know well he has already won bracelet in this WSOP too.

Phil Ivey lost me last year (?) at the wsop when he bitched out the player for standing up when he had second or third nuts. The guy was all in at the wsop for god sake. Then when the player explained that he thought phil might have had one of the better hands phil was still snarky.

Bad form.

I read that the reason Ivey didn't want to be at the feature table is because the "Big Game" is fully stocked with new players at the Bellagio and he's been crushing it for tons of cash the past couple weeks. Maybe he wanted to duck out of the Rio early or didn't feel like playing his best tourney game or something.

I don't think this actually happened. The ESPN crew?wtf.Whats next some stripper saying how much Ivey paid her not to get a lapp dance? It's part of his contract to play at featured tables and rep full tilt. Not to mention that the more well known he is the more he'll make in endorsement.

Unfortunately the Amazon Room was not immune to controversy either. Players who drew table 90 in the orange section arrived to find they had drawn the same table as Phil Ivey and would be moved to a feature table. When Ivey arrived he insisted he did not want to be at a feature table and his request was honored. The other eight players were more than a little irritated since playing at a feature table entitled them to about $10,000 in sponsorship money from various companies as well as the chance to be part of the broadcast.

Not wanting to be at a feature table did not stop the cameras from converging on Ivey's table. He was eating when they showed up and he asked that they not film him while he was eating, causing the cameras to leave and not return until after the dinner break.

Phil Ivey is known for being a low-key guy and keeping his emotions in check, but he can't help but smile after winning his second bracelet at the 2009 WSOP. He officially won $220,538, but this second bracelet clinched some additional prop bets for him on the side where he likely won a few million more.

Sorry guys I just won a few million on a prop bet so take that camera off of me while I'm eating! Pleeeze! lol

Phil Ivey, still my favorite poker player. I like his style and he's a very respectable guy.. whether he wants the cameras on him or not, lol. Sucks that the other players didn't get their $10,000 in sponsorship money (which would have just paid their way into the main event basically).
