In cash games.... At what point does ABC poker not make you a profit? Im speaking of 6 or 9 person ring games.

Im playing at 0.05/0.10 level now. Does it start at .25, .50 or higher???

To be honest mate, I've been dabbling with $25NL recently - and whilst im still getting my feet wet I have been playing tight ABC - I've found it yields a fair profit.

I try and vary my play from time to time though - if Im raising pre-flop and I will alternate between min raises and 4 or 5 times the BB, depending on position and what im holding etc.

To be honest though, Im still relatively new to poker, been playing about 6/7 months so Im sure there will be more experienced players on here who will be able to offer a bit more in depth responses.

Cheers,
Marc

I guess you could play ABC poker until the medium stakes. If you see the multitablers play 24 tables of 1/2$ NL Hold'Em and making profits, I guess it's possible, because they can't pay to much attention to their opponents and such.

I'm not sure your going to get the answer your looking for. I'm not even sure there is an exact answer to this question. If you want my opinion, if it's working for you, keep using it until it stops working. IF IT AINT BROKE DON'T FIX IT!!

I suppose this is probably the best way to look at it!!

I agree with this. Stick with a winning formula until it's proven to be a losing one.

I think you have to look at how the table is being played. that goes for ant stakes. I have found that if you have a lot of loose cannons at the table you need to tighten up. Which is pretty common at low stakes tables. I see a lot of players at those stakes just trying to build bankrolls quickly. As you move up in stakes the players take a more serious look at the game and are there to win, but play a higher level.

ABC poker is still profitable at every level, but only slightly. To be very profitable, you have to be creativ to get the extra value. And use ressources like the important thin value bet on the river  , which the pro´s use...

Regardless of what "ABC poker" might mean, this is obviously not true. Otherwise, I would obviously advise you to take on the durrr challenge. Even if you beat durrrr only slightly playing your ABC poker, you still get a decent paycheck with the side bet...

If abc poker means playing a style as outlined in Harrington's volume one or any other beginning book then you will be sucessful until the other players figure out which style you are following. Then it is time to change.

Durrr is a donk, he plays trash like 86s, I'll just wait till I have AA and take his stack!
