I have an idea for a survey, play a sng online, and track everyhand, number of hands till finish and how many winning river cards are given, (which be a lot for 1 table tourney) than at casino watch sng's to the equivelant amount of hands, say 56 online so watch 56 hands live, and see how many winning rivers are dished out, i will be doing this next time at casino, i would love for someone else to do it, even just once, i am positive that there will be a huge difference in underdog wins, eg, AA vs 88 on a 476 flop, river comes 5, it just happens on a much to high a frequency, it will be interesting to see the results

no need to; i got your definitive answer right here -----> online poker is rigged.

p.s. your sample size is WAY too small to come up with any kind of conclusion.

What Chuck said. The results wouldn't mean very much at all unless your sample size was many, many thousands of hands and even then, you'd have to hope that other people would believe the data you collected was legitimate... that makes a study like that kind of hard to do.

its not for any other reason but curiosity, its just in my humble opinion that there is was to many miracle rivers lately, especially the donkeys who are all in pre flop with 53 and hit trips, against QQ, you ave all seen it before, but it would be very interesting to compile an ever building data base on this

pre flop with 53 ..... against QQ,

That`s a very extreme case, but even there your man with 53 is only about 80/20 underdog. In most situations at the table, the man with the weaker hand is never worse than 70/30, which means that the apparently hopeless hand will actually win nearly one time in 3.

Looks crazy when it happens, but it`s not mathematically very unlikely.

couldnt agree more, online poker is so rigggged.
but, I was in the casino the other night, playing a live MTT, and I had ATos in shortstack, so I pushed all-in. Everyone folded to the BB, who called with 84os. Hahaha I thought, this is not online, therefore this is not rigged, how can I possibly lose against this schmuck??? He proceeded to hit two 4's and an 8 on the board for a full house.
Here's my insight: live poker is also rigged, rigged I tell's ya. So now that online AND live poker has decisiveley been proven to be rigged, what can we do? Me, I'm off to play the slot machines................what's that? no, they're rigged as well? eye yey yey yey yey, whats a poor Jewish boy to do?

I read a very good explanation of this whole thing in a book by one of the pros. Can`t remember which, or I`d find it and quote it exactly, but in essence it said:

In online poker, the player sees very many more hands than in real-world play. The pace of play is much more rapid, with two or three times as many hands per table per hour. Additionally, many players play more than one table. Also, because the game is conveniently available in one`s own home 24/7, the player may well spend more time playing.

The net effect is that events which would have been rare in a brick-and-mortar game are now everyday occurrences. This gives rise to the popular impression that online games are more "flukey" or have more bad beats. There is little or no evidence to support this belief.

I need to put a stop to this rigged thread right now, i never said it was rigged, nor is this a rigged thread, I am getting miricale rivers at times as well, although not to many because i am not putting myself in the positions to need them,

Now as for the pro's comments on more hands, that is why my little test will be with the same amount of hands, if i play/watch 300 online hands, i will do likewise live, so the notion of online sees more hands blah blah blah is not in effect,

my reason for this is not at all to prove the integrity of online poker, or lack there of, but to see why the massive underdog comes up trumps more frequently than they should, it is almost the case, that to win an online tourney, you need to stick it in with the most ridiculous combo, for a lot of chips and get your chosen online room to determine whether your hand is sufficiently bad or not and dish out a winner accordingly
