Is this a standard pay off with ace high?

So I'm playing 3 handed 0 history with the guys. Button folds I'm in the smal, blind with aq so raise it to 4x (I'm playing 3/6c micro stakes cash game). I make it 4x because I'm out of position and I hear daniel negreanu say u should be raising over the pot when your out of position. The blind calls and the flop comes k clubs j clubs 6diamonds. I c bet half the pot being 24c and he calls. Turn comes an 8 diamonds and it goes check check. River is the 8 of spades. I check because there is pretty much 0 point it betting since if he has a busted draw he will either bluff and check and I can pay him off (aslong as I read the bluff well) and if he has a jack or a weak king and a 6 or (very unlikely) a hand like 78clubs 89 clubs or 810clubs ) he will check (apart from the one I put in brackets lol but that's VERY UNLIKELY). anyway I check and to my amazement he better the pot which is up to about 90c. Now his play make 0 sense unless he has 78 89 or 810 clubs as i explained. But this is sooooo unlikely I'm not considering it. I feel the only likely real hand that make sense is a busted flush or a hand like 10q or slim chance 9q. Or what I really believe he has a busted flush. Oh yeah a suited 8 is all possible but again very unlikely. I decide to call because it just way to unlikely he has a hand from the way he played it. It's very rare to see a thin value bet at these stakes either. The only thing that made me abit confused was his raise size because it was so big it looked like he was trying to make it look like a bluff. But he may of been putting me on like 9j 10j jq or aj and thought I wouldn't have the balls to call. Anyway he showed jjj88... I couldn't even put him on that hand.

Anyway what do you think of the whole hand? Was it a standard pay off? Or should I have folded since the call wasent profitable?

He may have floated the flop with air, but if he's calling 4x from the bb, he probably has a lot of broadway hands, sc's and suited aces. All these combos hit that flop hard. c/f turn and river.

On a side note: have you ever heard of paragraphs? Your post would be far easier to read and you'd get more responses if you formatted it better.

Could see him checking behind on turn with hands with showdown value or maybe a monster (JJ,66), thinking that you're cbetting flop & giving up turn & figures he can get another bet out of you on river if he just checks behind turn (thinking that it's real likely you're c/f turn).

I don't really want to read the paragraph. Izaak, I want to look at your hands but the way you write them out is very difficult to read and analyze.

You can use a hand converter and post the hand history here, and I guarantee you people will be more willing to give you advice and it will be a lot easier for you to post more hands without writing a huge essay on each one.

You 4x pre, he calls, you bet flop, he calls (stop and think here) as stated above C/Fold next 2 streets.
