Can you please tell me the tools that every serious player should have ?

I am thinking along the lines of :

1. learning aids
2. a card runners account
3. a list of resource sites
4. poker software (poker rooms)
5. Stats software (PT)
6. A hand replayer (for analyzing your game)
7. A decent chipset
8. bankroll
9. A strategy
10. a laptop

etc

i dont see how a chipset is required

also card runners isnt the only poker tutorial site out there, there are many that are just as good or even better (deuces cracked comes to mind)

Hey Pantin007, long time :)

I carry a chipset, a few decks and a tabletop around in my car whever I go.
Not because i'm a whore for a quick game but because you never know ;-)

However I rarely play home games anymore and the one that I do play at, the host has chips, so you have a good point! thanks :D

As for cardrunners, it was an example, I have never heard of deuces cracked. Please give me a list ? You rock thanks!

Add experience to that tool belt. There is no better teacher than just doing it! You don't need to calculate odds on hands if you've played enough to experience them. I'm finding the more I play, the more I'm learning.

As Pantin mentioned, there are other video sites. CR has the most videos but most are mediocre imo compared with other sites (DC is great), although you can get CR (and Stox) for free if you play a good amount on Full Tilt.

Another piece of software that is a must imo is pokerstove, which you can get for free.

Also a poker forum and poker friends you can talk to on an im service to go over hands and discuss strategy. Obviously we've got the forum part covered since we're posting on one :).

1. Bankroll managment
2. An understanding of position
3. Emotional stability
4. Desire to learn and improve

The above are far more important than HUD and stats.

Well I suppose this depends on if you are playing live or online.
For live I believe it is a whole new approach.
I often bring my side bag with lots of protein bars, snacks like cashews, gummy treats and such.
I usually drink deaf coffee and water and stay as focused as possible.
I always have my headphones, with numberous differnt sd cards to change out music in my phone, although recently I have got a ipad and now bring it and stores all my music and info, and also allows me to post here on cc about my progress :).
For online play i usually just get my playlit ready and set up for like 5 hours of music and make sure I have water in the fridge and a good meal.

All the live games I've played don't allow ear/head phones. Where do you play that allows them?

WOW really S.D. ,all the casionos I have played at do allow them. there has been some controvery on hoodies but most allow them as well.
I have been playing live all over florida on differnt w.p.t. circuit events throughout florida since around summer of last year, and havent had any problems with headphones at all. Confirmed casinos that allow them in florida are. bestbet jacksonville, bestbet ormond beach, seminole hardrock hollywood, seminole hardrock immokolee, seminole hardrock tampa, st petersburg kennel club, daytona beach kennel club, coconut creek kennel club, ocala hi jai, and there are some more but dont remember names at the moment.

Heh, if you ask me there are two ways depending do you want to play only live game or you plan to play only online or both online and live. If yp
ou are only 'live event' player, all you need is a money in your pocket/bankrollbut if you will play poker online as well, you should better find a good laptop computer and a mobile internet connection.
