I was perusing throughout the internet and ran into this article from an online journalist Jenny Woo: (Article Feb 4, 2009)

U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, a Massachusetts Democrat and head of the U.S. House Financial Services Committee, at a news conference on Tuesday morning outlined his agenda for the coming months, including an attempt to have online gambling and poker prohibition repealed.
Congressman Frank has told reporter Jenny Woo that legalized online gambling plays an important role in the current U.S. economic crisis.

"I think if we do this right we should make online gaming legal and subject it to a reasonable taxation like anything else," he said. "This does not conflict to our effort to stimulate the economy. This isn't bad for the economy."
Gambling on the Super Bowl this past Sunday was widely believed to have generated close to $90 million in Vegas alone. The online gambling sector is likely to have made several times that number.

Good news and bad news. The good news is Frank supports online gambiling, the bad news is I live in Massachusetts and can't stand the guy.

I don't like taxes, but if they taxed legal poker sites based out of the US, that would be very good for the economy.

Go, man, go.

I think that regulation of the poker industry and taxation on winnings would be a benefit because more people would come back and play and it would be a win for everyone

Taxation has the opposite effect to stimulating the economy...BUT, bringing online poker from offshore to onshore in a business friendly environment would be stimulating to the economy in dozens of different ways.

Keep it straight...growing government ALWAYS stifles economies...growing private businesses ALWAYS stimulates economies.
