I think poker is definitely a game of skill, but I dont think I would teach children how to play.

If you play at micros, most of the time its gamble. When you move up in stakes its more likely a think game.
Definitely this game if you try to understand statistics and so on , develop more that part of the brain responsible with math and logical thinking

Poker is both but everything depends on the way you look at the game. If you are gambler you can gamble on anything including poker. One day if i have children i will show them the game without hesitation. but will do my best to explain them the difference between the gambling and serious approach about the game.

Poker is a good way to teach analyze and logically but I think there is many other games for that and hardly a children want to stay seated one/two hours.

i dont know about teaching my children, but i would not prohibited. i think poker is 70% gambiling(meaning you need lady luck by your side) and 30% skill. this is my opinion,
