A bit of a conundrum

So for the past couple months I have been happily grinding away the micros at bodog poker, mostly staying about even overall. Lately I seem to have gotten it figured out and built up my bankroll from the initial $100 to just over $200 playing 5nl 6max.

Played a session last night as I usually do and logged out in the early AM hours. Logged in this afternoon to see that my balance is $0.00... initially thinking that it must be a mistake I log out and log back in only to see the exact same thing. So I take a look at my eCash log that shows my balance changes. Turns out someone accessed my account about 4 hours after I stopped playing and wiped it out in a matter of 15 hands or so at a 50nl table.

I don't use any untrustworthy software, just PT3, and keep my machine clear of viruses, don't share my account info with anyone or anything like that. So I called up Bodog customer support to see what, if anything, they could do for me. Well, they told me they were sorry but unfortunately there was nothing they could do since my account is my responsibility and I understand that, I was just hoping by some chance I could get the funds reinstated.

They did however tell me that they checked the IP logs and knew that it was accessed from somewhere other than my home, but still couldn't be sure that it wasn't me. I managed to get the IP address that was used from the lady and traced it to Sofia, Bulgaria and my info runs dry there.

Now that the rant is over... I'd like to keep playing poker online and I've actually come to like the Bodog software and players, but I don't feel safe depositing on there in fear of it possibly happening again.

So... any advice? If not, thanks for listening, needed to vent.

What kind of firewall are you using? I play on a separate windows user account, so that it has no private information on it. I don't know if that does any good, but every little bit helps. I have had a few problems with Bodog software but nothing like this. Sorry to hear that happened to you. Let us know if you find out anything further on this.

Get the HH from bodog poker for those hands the hacker of your account played. He may dump those money to his own account or a buddy of his.

As for a firewall, I use the standard Windows 7 software firewall and a hardware firewall via my router so I'm not too concerned there.

And Pokerchris, the HH for bodog doesn't include names, only positions so I have no way of knowing who the chips were dumped to.

Well I figured out a way to redeposit and play a little bit safer. I decided that I am going to just change my password after every session so there is no chance of someone getting on my account unless its me.

Didn't like the idea of not playing online poker so thats what I came up with, hopefully it works.

I would be surprised if Bodog didn't have access to the hand histories for those sessions including player names. If they don't, that's a big failure on their part.

WoW. So why didnt bodog security department see it was from different IP and get the funds back? Bodog shudda did something about it.
I had my account hacked and 1K was used. They hacked my moneybookers account and withdrew and depsoit at 3 other sites. I reported it to the 3 sites and they froze the accounts to where the money went and I got all my $$$ back.

How did they hack your moneybookers account too?

And I thought you couldn't use moneybookers for poker sites if you're US.

You weren't using the same password for a lot of things were you?

You know, you sign up for some poker forum or poker newsletter, then they get hacked so the hacker has your name and password. Then they do a little research and see what your poker accounts are and try that password with that account. Poof... monies dumped from your account to another account.

I'm sorry to hear about this, could you send me your account number so I can speak with a senior CS manager about this?

Thanks,
Becky

How did they hack your moneybookers account too?

And I thought you couldn't use moneybookers for poker sites if you're US.

This was when netteller and moneybookers were allowed a few years back.

My yahoo was linked to my moneybookers. They hacked my yahoo and saw my moneybookers was in there. They did a pw reset and sent to my yahoo. I couldnt login my yahoo for a few weeks cuz the hackers changed my secret question and all. I tried emailing yahoo with another email and explain the situation then they finally believed me and sent me my pw reset. The hackers dug through my saved emails and screwed alot things up. Once they got in my moneybookers they also did the pw reset which was sent to my yahoo. I pwrsonally called them from the US and they put a security watch on it. While I was waiting on my yahoo to clear I was on my msn email. I posted about this a few years ago when this happen to me on another forum.
