Why risk any chips in the first place? You can dig through your histories for that particular hand and then just check the number of times it would have been a winner vs. loser.

People - I was seeing 6,9 every other flop on FT in different tourneys, it made me wonder and I have decided to conduct an experiment (see???? its in bold)

I registered to a 180 freeroll and decided to play every 6,9 that I get and see what happens. Then, I've decided to share the results - Clearly, the later was a bad call

Sorry to have disturbing all of you smart ones :thefinger

Haha I think people are taking this thread a little to seriously. I thought it was a bit of fun, no need for name calling.

1) i dont think u conducted an 'experiment'

2) most everyone online 'experiments' like u with anything thats soooted, any ace, any face card as well anything random that has some 'significance' to them

3) online poker is tailormade for all of u 'experimenters' LOL

ohh... you don't think... good to know :)

It was 6,9...

There is nothing wrong doing experiments, one only has to find the right people to share them with, that's all.

It's simple. Your experiment while fun was unnecessary. You could have checked your own personal stats with the hand by checking your hand history, or you could have just looked up the win rate of the hand online, and then you would have gotten a significant amount of data.

6/9 is like Satan. It goes by more than one name. It's been called the sexiest hand in poker, and dinner for two. I just call it "Hendrix" because if six was nine I'd raise.

It's like other questionable hands in the game. It should be played, just not frequently. Basically if you're at a table and you know everyone's going to call the BB or a small raise from UTG, then go ahead and call. You have odds, and when the hand hits it'll gobsmack the life out of your opponents provided it hits big and you can extract the maximum from the opposition.

It's also a good bluffing hand but any hand's a good bluffing hand provided your bluff works.

Why call it unnecessary? Obv the experiement wasnt intended as a super serious indepth study of the possible virtues of playing 69os everytime you get dealt it. The OP decided he wanted to try and test 69s potential for a bit of fun. He went into FRs and gave it a whirl. He thought itd be fun to opst some results for a bit of a communal laugh. Im so lost as to why everyones giving him a hard time calling him a donk. Yea, he could of looked up HH but why not have a bit of fun while FRing. Id hardly call it unnecessary, rather a bit of a laugh.

I do notice that certain programs tend to favor certain hands. I'm not sure about 6-9 as in a definite winner, but I can guarantee I love to bust as many as possible with it. I have beat many prime starting hands with 6-9 only to remind everyone that with 6-9 how could I lose??? I also play the hand just as often in live play, a guaranteed attention getter.

I haven't called anyone a "donk" in my life... I'm allowed to have an opinion, but you're not allowed to accuse me of doing something I just don't do... I even own up to the fact that I'm a fish, so now what? Everyone isn't calling him a "donk". One person called him a "donk" and another seconded that opinion, but that's far from everyone calling him a "donk".

Congratulations you just got me to type "donk" five times in a single post. Well done sir.

Lol wow everyone is just too serious.
Norbs I actually find it interesting as I often get 69 in the pocket but always fold. I totally understand the experiment was for your entertainment and you posted the results. I think it was a fun thing to although I wouldn't have the nads to do it.
Thanks for sharing:)

I am happy to read there are also people here who can enjoy a 'light post'

Just to be clear - Although I'm a big fan, the 6,9 hand wasn't tested due to it's 'sexual' context :) I really (still!) see them coming together in flops a lot!!

To be honest, and I know it makes no sense, but today, when I'm dealt a 6,9, if the blinds are not too high, I will try and see the flop - Do any of you play a "favorite" hand without a real reason but only for the fact that you "like" the hand?

I think that experimenting on freerolls is a bit skewing the results as what really matters is how the RNG works for cash tables. I'm sure you'll find lots of people here who will be delighted to join you at really money tables... :D

I enjoyed it, norbs! It definitely got the conversation flowing.

I see it a lot too. I don't play it that often, but I might start now.
