Everyone that plays tournaments online is very familiar with the “5 min break”

Is it long enough though?
I find it’s long enough to go to the bathroom or get food, not both.

If I’m playing a tournament or multiple tournaments, I sometimes wish one of the 3-4 breaks was a longer lunch/dinner break.
Maybe 10-15 minutes-ish??
What do y’all think?

Time to pee and press the button on the Keurig, fine with me IMO.

well TBH, in my opinion 5 minutes can take too long, if you are already playing poker it is reasonable that there are no breaks and you should stop whatever you are doing and play it with hundred percent concentration

I think they should be more like 7 or 8 mins. But I doubt the poker sites will change it because it would have to be universal so we have synchronized breaks.

Quite enough. I can eat during the tournament. Sometimes I do other things if I'm playing on the phone. It all depends on the stage of the tournament.

If the breaks are longer, then the tournaments will be longer, and this is bad.
I think 5 minutes is enough.

Yes, you can also get up and have a sick break while the game is being played. I play on my laptop and often do other things while I'm playing as well.

If you are in a good form before break, you don't even want to have it, because you may lose your rhythm( my case ). But when you i am in a bad mood or smth, it is good to smoke a cigarette, use bathroom and refresh a little bit.

I believe that 5 minutes is fine, at least it reaches to do the basic necessities, with 10-15 minutes the tournaments would become too long.
However, in live tournaments if there are 15 minutes of break, even more

its every hour, therefore i believe it is plenty of time. if they were going to do 10/15 min i believe there should only be a break 2-3hrs.
OR if going to do 10/15 break.... do a 15 break every 3rd break or every 3hrs of the tournament

If it is a long tournament I think that every three breaks it could be 15 minutes. :)

I have come back from the bathroom only to see I have been timed out with a pair of aces or kings several times. Maybe 8 minutes?

I think its more than enough. If it were 10 then you go do what you gotta do, then come back to 5 minutes of waiting. So 5 is good.

It's a standard rule in the United States that employers must give employees a break every two hours lasting at least 10 mins in total and a lunch period lasting at least 30 mins, if the shift last longer than 4 hrs.

I think every 4th break should be 20 mins.

Clearly I’m in the minority, but I also play solid for many many hours.
I’m not saying every break should be longer. It’d just be nice if one of the breaks were 10-15 minutes, like a dinner break. I’d even be ok with the other breaks being shorter.

I know some poker sites have scheduled breaks and some have them based on level.
Part of the problem I face usually, is, at BOL the breaks are based on the level and if I play multiple tournaments, I never get an actual break because of they all happen at different times. However in that case , a longer break may not help

Maybe 7 or 8 mins at most. Most of the time I am just waiting for the damn thing to restart.

Unless I have to do a #2 (lol), 5 mins is enough to pee and grab something quick to eat.

5 minutes is just the time that is needed to get distracted from the tournament, do some exercises and regain strength. If you play about 4 hours, they are very necessary.

I think its really aggravating to have breaks at early stages, but equally that the break is so short near the end. I would rather see no breaks at all until late reg ends, and then used sparingly as it progresses, possibly with longer break times.
