No rebuy. What's the easiest way to hand out the chips to 5 players, and to 10 players. Let's do both scenarios, based on turnout.

5 colors. 100 chips of each color.
What should each color be worth,
and what should the SB/BB denominations start at?

Thanks!

depends on if you want a fast tourney or a slow one

red = 5 green = 25 black = 100 I assume these are 3 of the 5.
These are standard casino color values.

you probably have white chips - make them 1000 value

whatever your 5th chip is, probably yellow or purple, make it 500 value

start each player with 2500 1 white 1 purple(yellow,5th chip) 7 black 10 green 10 red blinds start at 5/10

this will be either a long or short tournament depending on how you structure from here. For faster make blinds either go up fast, or go up steep

have fun

need more info let me know

I prefer to stick with just 3 colors, to keep it simple.

Ok. But try to evolve into more, trust me you will be happy you did when you learn to manage it, makes the tourney much more fun

Ok ditch the whites and the reds. Start at 2500. 3 purple/yellow(500 each). 8 black(100 each) and 8 green(25 each) start blinds at 25/50

This will go fast, even if the blinds are at 20 minutes

In terms of making the game go faster or slower, my favourite rule of thumb is you'll generally get down to your winner when you have about 10BB total chips in play. So you can work backwards from that.

Say you get eight players and you all start with 2500: that puts 20,000 in play, so you expect your game to wrap up at around the 1k-2k blinds level.

If you start down at 25/50 blinds it'll take you eight to 12 levels (depending on just how steep or shallow you want to make the increments) to get to 1k-2k. Play 15-minute levels and your game is probably wrapped up in 2-3 hours. 15 minute levels go by pretty fast in live poker though, especially if the game is self-dealt...
