Registration for wsop Main Event Day 1D is closed and we have the final figures.
7,319 players registered into the event making it the second largest poker tournament ever. Total prize pool is $68.8 million and the winner will take home $8,944,138.
The biggest ever Main Event remains the 2006 edition which was the last one before the UIGEA was dropped on the poker world.

2005: 5,619 / Joe Hachem $7,500,000
2006: 8,773 / Jamie Gold $12,000,000

I'm really glad to see the number going up again. I'm sure much of that has to do with the Poker Players Alliance, as well as some of our elected officials (Barney Frank at the forefront) who are fighting with all they've got to make the UIGEA disappear.

I don't see the UIGEA disappearing anytime soon and it really sucks for me because Maryland is one of those states that goes nazi on you if it even thinks you are gambling online.

Anyway, for those who think poker is dying, this is a clear indication to the contrary. I think we'll look back and see that UIGEA was a rather unpleasant bump in the road.

you in now ? I'd rather make it about me winning it . BUT since I'd have to play it to win it and thats not likely to ever happen , not to mention you're worked a thousands times harder for the chance and deserve it more.... I vote YOU winning it :D should we have the title changed ?
