Looking at renting a house out on Airbnb (they so cheap!) for 2 months in Vegas for 3 of us. We're gonna be playing MAINLY $1/$2NLHE and the daily tournies ($50 or so I think? Depending where you go).

Going to be playing around 4 days a week. We're all fairly solid players at the cash tables when playing live.

Can anyone give advice on how much we'd need per person?

We're thinking about 10k USD should be plenty for 8 weeks at $1/$2?

Anyone who's done this please let me know. for advice.

Depending on your daily max losses that could be gone in a week. Whats your cost for the house? I'd be interested in joining but I'm more a tournament specialist. Average cash player.

Airbnb will cost you a bunch of money compared to other places. Budget suites or extended stay America much much cheaper. Your bankroll to play with should be about 4k each. Good luck.

Oh and I suggest you stay away from Strip tourneys. They are terrible. Orleans has the best ones. Any tourney under $100 will be turbo and pretty crappy anywhere you play so have low expectations there

Don't waste your money on tournaments that are less than $100 - the rake is too high.

Treat yourself if you have some really good days at cash - play the Aria $125's.

Sorry for the late replies!

We found a house on Airbnb that will cost us each about 3k, its 2 stories, 10min from the strip with a pool , 4bed 2 bath. Are there chances of getting cheaper places? I know Vdara does 30 day rates at about $3500 per person, but the only difference is with getting our own house we can buy our own food and it works out cheaper that way, instead of paying for 3 meals a day!

If the aria $125 tourney's are better, then we'll adjust for those!

We're restricting our losses to 2-3 buy in's a day. IF we play the tourney that probably brings us down to 1 buy-in if we cash / run deep.

I feel like 10k is excess! Because even though we have our swings and variance sucks, we should not be losing 2-3 buy ins every day!

Dakota you seem to be the go to girl!

Thanks Detroitjunkie. will keep that in mind! Ideally the lower our costs of living, the more we have for poker and to maybe dabble in the higher stakes every now and then (no higher then 2/5 and no more then maybe once or twice just to see how it plays).

Obviously for 2 months we felt like a house would be better (food, washing, general living, 2 car ports for rentals etc) for budgeting but I don't know how much a food shop for 3 adult males would cost to last 2 weeks or so! aha

I stay at the Budget Suites for 2 months when I deal there for wsop. Its a bit low quality, but Im from Detroit so its no bother to me. It has laundry facilities and what not. Staying here or at Extended Stay will save you about 1 to 1.5k for the duration. Just a thought.

Aria tourneys are good, but I still think Orleans tourneys have better structure and larger fields. Try them both and see for yourself.

And if you want easy crazy poker, with pseudo-whales that will just dump everything to you, try the cash games at South Point.

Sweet cheers lad! the house we found on Airbnb is pretty nice, I don't want to spend toooo much on accomo, but I don't mind spending an extra 1k-1.5k on sometihng a bit nicer! That's why Vdara or this house are currently out in front! Heard really good things about Vdara and its where hellmuth stays when he goes for lengths!

I'll check out orleans and south point!

All Vdara suites have kitchens - but sounds like it is twice as much.

3k each sounds expensive to me. I know a realtor there I could hook you up with.

I will be there from June 30 - July 10 if you want to say hi. We will also have a CardsChat team event at the WSOP if you are interested in participating. It will likely be the Carzy Eights $888 buy-in. We usually pay 20-25% of the buy-in and have a last longer prize.

Unfortunately won't be there till much later in the year! WSOP will be a 2017 event for us, it's our first time and the business of the WSOP is probably a bad idea for us.

3k for a month to me sounds good, considering Mandalay rates and MGM rates are much more costly, but like I said, still new to this!

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER stay at the casinos - NEVER EVER

And Dakota - I do not think I am going to be dealing there this year due to issues at home with a sick wife, but because of this I am looking to go out there and play for a week or so ish. Was gonna hit the 1.5k O8 but if there is a deal to be had for the 888 I may be persuaded to join in. How do I find out?

Why never? for long term or short term or both? For short term I wouldn't mind living in a little luxury.

short term, a few days, sure they can be very nice. anything over a week never
you would be so sick of being there after a week, and the price is gross, especially since you probably have to pay for laundry, and eat out every night
and if anyone is a smoker, then they have to go downstairs to casino every time (which i am sometimes), it never feels private to me, and sometimes very noisy drunk neighbors. And the houses you can rent for pretty much the same price would be much more luxurious - and away from the casino games (a winning poker players worst nightmare)...some of those AIRBNB houses are really nice, much nicer than what you would want to pay for at any casino

Ah I see. The prices compared to here are amazing thats why I ask! AT crown casino perth the rooms average about $300 per night where as I can get rooms for $100 a night at Mandalay or $160 a night roughly at Aria which are meant to be fairly decent!

Those are not bad prices for the casinos if you are only going for a few days...make sure though thats the weekend price - some casinos almost double price for friday thru sunday, and most casinos have a resort fee they wont tell you about either until you get there which can be anywhere from 25-75 bux a day, if its a resort casino - which most of the nice ones are

either way enjoy, you will have a blast

Personally I would seek out cheaper accomodation, but something fairly close to where I'm planning on playing most of the time (short cab ride - I'd never rent a car there) . Something with some type of kitchen facilities.

If you desire to stay in one of the upscale casino hotels, why not just keep it as a 'reserved consideration' for if you experience some 'rungood' while there.

Personally I really didn't enjoy my experience staying in one of the Casino Hotels (I stayed 1 week at The Palazzo). Sure the room was nice but I didn't enjoy alot of things about it.... I didn't like being right in the casino (always loud, always people walking around half-cut, noisey). ie. if you want to roll out of bed, slide downstairs to grab a bite & a coffee, it was like $8 for a peanut butter & jam sandwich. And to grab breakfast, it's freak'n huge walk or a HUGE bill & just not worth it (imo). And the food, etc. sucked imo. (frigg'n breakfast at A&W for $3 is better here then what I was getting there, LOL).

I don't play casino games of any kind though which obviously makes a big difference (I liked them 20yrs. ago). To me it looked like a few were having fun but more were experiencing the 'FredFlintstone' (Bet Bet BET!!! pant, pant, pant,.. drool, drool.. drool). It felt like 'soul-sickness' all around.. sort of like being in a bar full of drunks. I felt sad.

I'm glad I went but it just wasn't for me..... BUT, I still plan on going to play in WSOP again but this time I KNOW what I'll be doing >> what & where I'll be playing & how often. Where I'll be eating & a good idea of where I'd be staying.

have fun on your trip!

Yea Fred was quite the gambler! Toooo funny that you referenced that. Even though 90% of everyone here has no idea what you are talking about, funniest reference in this forum.

And yes the table game pits are very sad and depressing, stay away from them at all costs

Whats this dude on about finding a stranger to stake me? Has he even read the post?

Thanks for the replies guys! Spoke to the lads last night, sounds like something on Airbnb is the go! If we run good then maybe we'll treat ourselves but for a trip where we want more money for poker, it's just not viable staying in the hotels.

Half the readers here do not read whole posts anymore or language barrier makes it so they dont understand completely. It happens.

Well enjoy. Should have a good time as long as you stay away from casino games. If you get there and have any questions or issues let us know and we can help. I know a bunch of people that live there and work at the cards rooms and other places as well. If you get a chance to see any sites I recommend Red Rock, Laughlin, Grand Canyon, Zion Ntl Park, and Hoover Dam (sort-of, not that big of a deal). If you play disc golf there are some nice courses there. Pin Ball Hall Of Fame is fun too.

Thanks lad appreciate it! We're gonna all get together and confirm when suits all of us best, it's pretty hard to get 2 months off work without just about quitting lol so gotta figure it all out.

We don't play casino games thankfully, although slots might get a few $$ if we're bored. Yeah we plan on seeing the sights, like I said we're only gonna be playing about 3-4 days a week so the rest of the time will be R&R / Sight seeing, apparently there's so much to see / do that you can't just do it in a normal 1-2 week holiday! Plus I hear national flights are cheap so we wouldn't mind flying around every now and then to see other places for a day or 2! See how that part goes though. Will hit you up when we go just not sure when it'll be!

Pretty sure he's just an idiot.

Lol'd!

So what exactly is the intent of your trip if youre only playing 3-4 days a week?

What do you mean? Even if you play "fulltime" you should have 1 -2 days off a week.
We're after the experience.
