This is something I started a while I was playing on Full Tilt. I am reviving the game/challenge to see how I do on pokerstars, now that I have built a decent size BR on that site.

The challenge is pretty simple: Try and build a cash game BR starting with $2. This is usually the min buy-in at the lowest stakes on most sites. I think PokerStars allows you to buy in for $1 at the .01/.02 tables, but I think that is way too low.

The rules are simple as well and I'll try to keep them from being to restrictive, like last time.

-You have to start off with a buy in of $2. If you increase your $2 challenge BR, you can only use that BR in future games. If your $2 challenge BR decreases below $2, you can use your main BR to reload. At a minimum, you need to sit down at a table with $2.

-As, your BR increases, you can increase your buy in but not exceeding your $2 challenge BR. So, if you have a BR of $6, you can buy-in $2 (but not below) up to $6 (but not over). Multi-tabling is also allowed as long as you stay within your BR and the requirements.

-This challenge is not restricted to just PokerStars, its open to whichever site you wish to play at. I will be playing on PokerStars. Also, there is no set BRM rule to follow. I will be starting off at the micro-limit .01/.02 tables, but if you wish you can sit down at the .05/.10 tables and buy in for $2 if it is allowed. The 2 main rules to be followed are the ones above.

-To keep track of the progress, we'll be using Free Poker Tracking Software - PokerDominator.comhttp://www.pokertracker.com. This challenge will go on until Feb. 1, where all participating players will post their graphs.

Also, keep in mind that this is just for fun. You can join or drop out of it whenever you wish. Good luck to all those who do wish to join in this challenge.

Oh, I hope it didnt affect your BR too much. And yeah, 2nd time is a charm. For those who do wish to participate, keep in mind that this challenge is all in good fun. All it is doing is giving you little challenge to see if you can build a sub BR by grinding the micro-limits with a min. buy-in. My best advice if you are building your main BR, but want to try this challenge is to allow yourself only a certain percentage of your BR to use. Proper BRM is still suggested.

ETA: Can a mod fix the link above? I meant pokerdominator: Free Poker Tracking Software - PokerDominator.com and not poker tracker. My bad.

I think I'll join you Philthy. A test to see how much I've learned about mini-micro players.

Plus there are times like now, while I'm watching football, that I don't have the attention to do my normal multitabling.

I would definitely participate in this if
A) I had $2 to blow multiple times and
B) I had poker tracker =)

:p I meant http://www.pokerdominator.com I dont have poker tracker myself.

And Im only allowing myself 3 buy-ins or ($6 dollars) to make something happen @ my current BR.
If my main BR does increase, then I'll give it another shot. Im still building my BR up, so I'll be using some sort of BRM for this as well.

My main is only $30, so I don't to toy around too much with things like this. Perhaps if I were in the triple digits I'd be all over this.

Totally understand. Like I said its just something fun to do if you want a bit of a challenge. My BR is only $40 so, thats why Im only allowing myself 3 buy-ins.

Good luck in reaching those triple digits.

That will be $6 Challenge for you but $2 Challenge for others?

I think it means you have to start with $2 and see how high you can get. You can refill that bankroll if you lose that $2 as much as possible, but its all about how high you can get starting with $2.

Rossta got it on the nose. At a minimum you have to buy in with $2 and you can only buy in as much as your $2 Challenge BR allows. Given my current BR, Im only allowing my self up to 3 buy-ins to make something happen.

Still on this Philthy?

I'm up 1.88 over the original $2 so far. Good for playing when I'm down with a cold and mostly watching TV.

Yeah, Im still in it. I had to start over with my second buy in after a few bad runs. ETA: my mistake, I am actually up .80 cents. Woohoo!

When do you usually hop on stars? Maybe I'll catch you on a table or something.

Well, .80 is better than -.80 :)

I've only played 2 sessions so far. It's fun; for whatever reason I like to get around in different levels/settings that I can afford to play, just to play against different types of competition. Your challenge gives me some structure and a reason to play the 0.01/0.02 tables.

Normally I'm on Stars in the evenings Pacific time, but usually on 4 $10NL tables these days. That's where my grinding focus is right now.

I just had an amazing run on the tables. Cashed out a profit of $6.40. My current BR is at $11.17, but only $5.17 of it is actual profit.

I am on my 3rd and final buy in for this challenge, so I realy have to make this last. So far, the first 2 games on this buy was pretty weak. I managed a couple of small wins and cashed out small profits, but I was still down total. This good run really helped me out, though. Hopefully more of these will occur.

Nice going Phil.

I'm using a slightly-loose passive preflop approach, especially in position, raising only premium hands 'cause there's not much fold equity, then betting for max value when I catch 'cause there's a lot of chasers. Seems to work so far.

Wow, sat down at at a .01/.02 table, mostly to reconfigure my HUD display. About 4 hands in got QQ in early position, got reraised so I shoved my $2, Q on the flop, Q on the river. Guy with AK left the table.

Up 3.39 now, 39 BB/100. Why can't I do this at $10? :)

im sure ther has been another version of this where you buy-in at 10c/25c with $5, when that doubles you move to 25c/50c with $10 buyin and so on untill you reach your goal.

Yep, search short stack strategies, or there was a rampaging contest running last summer.

Going to try this because I'm on the biggest downswing of my life. I'm at $3.05 right now.
