Hmm. Could be easily doctored. The announcer only said he had 85. He didn't mention the suits. But still. Holy shit.

My wife just had a good explanation. It may be that what we were seeing was not the actual hands or flops that were played at the final table. The Final table is never shown live. The action is always edited before it is shown often months later. I think it's likely that the hands and flop shown were added in after the fact for clarity and someone screwed up the suits. I didn't see any cameras hovering over the table.

+1.... Back in 1994 video editing was still weak (lack of experience). I'm only assuming the showed the wrong flop/hole cards when they edited the video for TV.

russ hamilton, who wins it is suspected of been the infamous 'potripper' online poker cheat.anyone notice something very strange about the hand?
YouTube - Final Hand of WSOP 1994

you got it trew.....2 eight of clubs, surely suited 8 should have won:D seriously though your right trew-how on earth was it not noticed.

Still.. Russ Hamilton didn't have the 8 of clubs.. he had the K8.. so if anyone was cheating there, it would be the guy who lost the hand with the same card that was on the board.

So, not sure where this relates to the whole Russ Hamilton cheating scandal thing.

Off topic about the video.. this was the 1994 WSOP, but at the end of the video, it says 1993 World Champion at the bottom. Strange.
