So I've been on tilt for the past week after I won the FT Cardschat Free Roll. I've been using bank roll management on FT and I've been bad with pokerstars as far as not caring what my BR was and just going gung ho. I lost about 30% of my FT bankroll and half of my Pokerstars playing $4-$6 SNG's and I believe I was playing solid. However, after a week of bad beats I decided to take two days off. I came back and got two more bad beats and I then decided to take my anger out on $10 SNGs on Pokerstars yesterday and this morning. Since then I haven't finished out of the money once and I've won like 4 of them. 3 on Pokerstars and 1 on Full Tilt and the other 3 I've played I've placed ITM.

I've played the SNG's the same way I did before...tight early and building gradual aggression I just don't understand this hot streak. Is it just variance? Or should I keep it up until I start losing? I'm very tempted to get out of my BR for FT and play exclusively at $10 SNG there as well. I'm at $214 at Pokerstars and $105 at FT.

Any thoughts on people who had the same experience?

Stick to BRM

Hey a nice winning streak is always a boost. But you should always try and stick to BRM or you will get yourself into trouble eventually.

Sure, today you were crushing the $10 SNGs, but what if in the next one you play you lose AA vs. 87s preflop and figure it was a blip and play another one and your KK gets rivered by QQ on the bubble? Now you've got some steam going just like you did on the $4-$6 SNGs so you figure, I'll try a $20 SNG and you lose that. Now all of a sudden you'd have lost 40% of your roll on Stars again.

Thanks for the advice guys...it was pretty loud and clear...lol. I think I'll just stick to BR on FT and keep plugging away on Stars since that was the plan from the start anyway. I actually have $137 on FT (not $107). 6 SNG are still cool for my BR right? It's only 5% of my BR.

The thing about BRM is that it varies so 5% may be good for you, but somebody else only wants to risk 2%. If you are beating the $6 level then I say 20 bis are enough. I don't play 9 person sngs anymore, but when I did, I went by the 50 bi rule or 2%, just because the varience in sngs is CRAZY! GL at the felt!

Wow dude that's pretty good. I think the variance rule still applies man but it just seems like you are doing great. I'd say try to stick to proper BR management to make sure you don't catch a losing streak and go broke. That is NEVER fun :/ lol but keep it up!:)

OK so I was weak

I broke my promise first thing. It's because I was on sharkscope and saw that there was a 6-player SNG on Full Tilt for $10 with two fishes and I could not help myself. So I broke my promise to use BR on FT. From now on!!! I will grind it out until $200 and then take up the $10 when I at least have $200 in my account.

As for for variance. I read in Moshman's book that it is not uncommon for a strong player to go on a 20 game (if my memory serves me right) SnG losing streak. Then I experienced SEVERAL times. Luckily, I was using BRM as per Chris Ferguson and didn't go broke.

I strayed away from proper BRM plus bad table selection (what was I thinking??) and it wasn't a pretty picture.

I just won another $10 SNG 9-handed on PS! I swear to you guys I haven't finished out of the money today at all. I'm up to $241! You're right Lizzy about Moshman, I was on the other end of the stick last week but this run is too hot for me to stop. Promise on FT no more $10 SNG's but PS is hot right now. I'm like a rabbit I gotta have it. The icing on the cake today would be to take down the freeroll on FT. Need to head to the Commerce casino tonight!
I'm slowing down though...I saw an easy game for $6 and I'm playing that on PS. I know this won't last forever.

Really if its not a whole big deal in your life if you lose a smallish roll then by all means take shots. (When I mean shots im talking the occasional 10% go). Once your roll gets higher though its a trait that you will likely regret.

Really if I had to go back to zero, i'd deposit $50 and play $5 sit and go's, then again $50 isnt a lot of money to me.

Yeah I need to try to take the occassional shot..that's why I have two BR's on two different sites. Just won another one but went down to $6 since the CC Freeroll is starting and I need to concentrate in that one...lots of good players on our site.
Anyway....not gonna stop till I lose out of the money today.
