Hi all my name is Shaun Sweeney and i'm 28 years old from Scotland,

I'm attempting to defy bankroll management rules by trying to turn $500 into $10,000 by xmas 2009, i started this challenge 2 days ago and i'm now sitting at $967 after 4 sessions,

Please bear in mind i'm playing $0.50 / $1 blinds so at the start of this challenge i was sitting with 20% of my bankroll whilst multi-tabling 4 at a time,

The video's are being uploaded on YouTube daily so if you'd like to watch, comment or even add me to msn then please do,

YouTube tags are "Shaun Sweeney $10,000 PKR.com Cash Game Challenge"

Wish me luck, and good luck to all you poker fans and players.

Certainly not, only thing i'm advertising is myself lol, watch the show and you'll see,

The poker site i'm doing this challenge on has not put me up to this, i also state this in the video recordings.

Hope that clarifies, it's just a simple attempt to defy bankroll management rules, i was inspired by Chris Ferguson's $0 to $10,000 using proper bankroll rules, now i just want to prove it can be done without following those rules.

Well, probably not the best idea to have your hotmail info in this thread (you never know who might get ahold of it), so I've removed that. Good luck though in your endeavor.

who are you trying to prove it too?

i think everyone knows it can be done. it's just not wise. plus he started with no money

Just trying to prove to everyone that doesn't already
believe it that being sensible in bankroll management will not earn you money as fast as you can by taking a calculated chance at playing at a higher level,

I agree that good players know it's possible but it's never been done on a blog before and i'd like to be the first to show it via video.

Anything can be done, but by ignoring BRM.. it probably won't

BRM offers protection against variance. If you run very well then you should do it. If you hit a down-swing where the cards don't run in your favour you will probably go bust

All the best and I wish you good luck

Just finished tonight, started on session 4 with $967 and finished with $1,388 and that was after getting off to a shocking start bursting on 1 particular table twice, one was a bad mistake and the other was bad luck,

I've set a date by xmas 2009 WVHillBilly as this ties in with my next attempt to go full - time online on boxing day this year so i'll try to achieve the target as i work full time at present around 70 - 80 a week, trying to squeeze as much poker in as possible, thanks also for the supportive comment Stu i realise in the long run BRM is critical for long term success, i'm doing this also for fun and make friends along the way :)

Interesting. I think the idea here that interests me is that is 5% of your br per session maybe too extreme? Could you play with 10% at a time and continue managing bankroll (going up and down limits accordingly). I mean, sure, u run faster losses, and bigger wins, but in the long run, as long as u go down the blinds as much as u go up, should be the same idea no?

You could do, but you would have to go down the stakes much faster when losing. Its quicker to build back 1 buyin at your current stakes rather than 2 buyins at the lower stakes.

BRM is a protection against variance, not poor play. All things being equal, a player should aim to be bankrolled for as long as is possible at the current stakes rather than aiming to drop down a level due to a few losses.

I'm addicted to the challenge now PattyR lol, just finished session 5 with $1,588, don't want to stop now i'm trying to encourage others to take a gamble with a percentage of their bankroll on a higher level but obviously not to go burst.
