So basically 48 Seats = 48M

11% of 48M is around 4.5M

Now the grand prize of 17M is huge and that's more than x2 what a normal PRO would earn in his life right?

Kinda lame how that basically puts the winner like as the leader for the all time money list...

But I guess they would be the 'all-time' money list leader.
I wonder who'll be playing in this?? (Go Alan Cunningham & Eric Seidel!!!)
.... wonder if Russ Hamilton enters this?

I think that was a great idea, $111.100 of every buy in is a very nice money for a good cause.

I thought it was kinda lame. Especially given the fact that they will award a bracelet for the event if at least 22 people enter.

The all-time money list is already a joke. Plus it's a small-field high stakes tournament so Erik Seidel is obviously going to ship it and he was already basically at the top anyway. So it won't change much.

This is a cool idea, I like it. Sort of makes up for the Onyx Cup falling through.

It's a year away, they'll have time to save. Plus even if they can't really afford it (remember that you don't need to worry about BRM for a one-off game) there will be people who won't be able to resist the lure of a potential $17 million payday and play anyway. And $1 million is only five or ten buyins for the cash games a lot of the high stakes players play in.

Its so pointless IMO.
But then again, there are high stakes cash games where they are playing for millions as well, so not so unexpected I guess.

To be fair, jaded regular poker players are hardly the target audience for a tournament like this - it's all about getting Average Joe excited.

Good for the charities, but I just get bored always seeing the same guys play huge stakes on TV.

Last I checked the TV ratings say you're in the minority - well known players playing for high stakes are one of the few things in poker that result in ratings spikes.

It'll be interesting to see the structure in this event. Will they start with 3,000,000 in tournament chips? How long will the levels last?

Looks interesting...I'm thinking it might draw in some of those business type billionaires also. Is it only invite, or anyone can enter?

Pretty sure it's open to anyone with a million bucks to burn.
