I was wondering if anyone could comment on playing the zoom tables vs the regular cash games. Is the fact that you can pick your hands and fold immediately hands you don't like an advantage, or does it really not make any difference to your bottom line?

From what I've read win rate decreases, loss of information on opponents and less opportunity for calling stations to call down. Hands played increases so a net gain over time.

I've experienced the first not so much the second.

Zoom is very aggressive, you can achieve great profits in a short time, it is logical that you have to be lucky to have a three, or flush, however the great zoom out is when you go through variance in poker and can not hit nothing and in a short time you lose a lot, because in the zoom in 30 minutes already give to have played some 200 hands.
Another difficulty is in the bluffs, as there is no fixed player at the tables it is very common to put around 3 bet and another player in UTG raise with 20 bet, the big problem when this happens is that most of the time it can be bluff , plus there are situations that it is not and you end up coming out zero.

If you like to play in a rush, that´s a good style of poker for you but,in my oppinion I prefer regular cash games.

I really like this style of play. It certainly suits the way I play. He to me is the most lucrative poker game style.

Zoom allows you to gain a large number of hands played in a very short amount of time. Good for building a base for a poker tracking program or experience playing.

Zoom is not good for building a lot of information on a few players. It's also a tough way to win because it tends to be quite aggressive. You have a mix of players that play to a big hand and a big pool of players looking for players looking for big hands to push them off when they miss.

I enjoy playing it - you get a large sample quickly but you have to use what information you can get to your advantage. It's very important to review hands you fold to see how certain players played it - and note it for future use. Zoom players tend to stay zoom for the most part so if you play enough you can get info on a good number of players.

I think it provides an opportunity for tighter players to profit. They are looking for certain ranges and this gets them to that range quicker.

Zoom is great to put volume. Your winrate is gonna be lower most likely. So try it if you are sure that you are winning the current limit.Regular tables are usually softer.

Lot's a good points here.

Zoom is indeed better for putting in a lot of hands, great for heavy grinders. But this is one reason why your winrate will also be lower. Zoom attracts lots of other tight grinders too.

Regular tables on the other hand though are much slower, less convenient (you can't just hope right into the action), but do allow you to table select and get on the left of the recs, which is huge.

There are tons of pros and cons to each. These are just a few of them.

If you want more info on Zoom poker strategy in particular I wrote a massive blog post about this awhile ago.

Sometimes I only like to play for an hour and zoom is great for that - it's not hard to win a stack in that time as well, there's still plenty of noobs overpaying garbage hands and bluffing off their whole stack.

If you've got time to burn and are confident in your pre and post flop game then sitting at a regular table might be better for your win rate.

It all comes down to what situation suits you more.

Zoom is the place where I can play the fastest poker from any other poker room!

I like to play there, there are good options. I'm trying to make the best of them!

Playing a normal cash game table you can make reads on people playing with you after a few hands. However in zoom, you are facing different opponents all the time unless you are facing regs who you have met for several times and you took notes on them.

Regular tables are easier to beat far more recreational players ,zoom games are full or regs.If you can beat the regs it's happy days.Personally i hate zoom or speed games and always play reg tables and i find them very profitable.

I think there is a much lower chance your opponent is bluffing in zoom--since if they dont make a hand they just want to get on to the next one and also there is no read on the players

I play among the Zoom tables, it's fun that you get to see many hands, it's about playing tight and daring to play offensive when you get a good hand.

in this game zoom and very variable my companions because you play without knowing the majority of the players of your table ...

I fully agree that there are no readings from opponents but I think there are more chances of having bluffing players than at a regular table

I originally started playing zoom on pokerstars on 0.01/0.02 and then switched to regular tables so my opinion is following:

1. If you are using a HUD, large zoom pools like the above mentioned micros on stars are way too big to track a reliable history in a reasonable period of time. This doesnt apply on smaller pools though.

2. I felt like players on zoom ale playing a bit tighter which increases variance and lowers your winrates IMHO because basically its stronger ranges playing against each other.
Dont forget that rake on micros is ridiculously high which also counts in after a big sample of hands played.

3. At non zoom tables your table selection can boost your winrates as you can pick who you want to play against. Also, you get better amount of hand histories for your HUD.

4. Zoom tables allow you to play way more hands per hour so if you are a skilled grinder and manage to keep a decent BB/100 winrate on zoom tables they are good option for you.

5. Zoom tables on 888 dont allow the usage of a HUD which is a massive disadvantage although I heard that there is some way to bypass it.

I fully switched to nonzoom tables and personally like them better.

Zoom is more aggressive and more harder to beat. Regular you have more player information.

But zoom isn't only reg infested - think about it if you were a recreational drunk fish you would choose zoom over regular table because you don't have to wait around for good hands.
The amount of garbage I see at showdown at micro zoom tables prove that.
