How do you guys feel about zone poker? any more profitable than regular ring games? I've taken a few stabs at it but ultimately feel like the only hands you're going to run up against at least more often than not are very high hole cards. curious as to what you guys think. better to stick to multi-tabling if you're looking for volume?

Well its not that easy because there are other players who are stealing and you will also inevitably run into situations where someone was slow playing their big hand. bluffing is only good for your image and it is never in itself a profitable thing. You need several successful bluffs to cover one that goes wrong.

I actually bluff less in the Zoom games. Too many random fish calling Down triples with TPGK in spots where I normally have like 0% bluffs and 100% 2P+.

I love zone poker. And somehow i seem to have more success at it than regular cash tables. And even without the success it is just so fast paced and fun. Im a US player so i think Bovada is the only site here that offers that format(if there is one anyone knows of please let me know)

Mostly it is easy to steal blinds there even with nothing and sometimes it is very hard to win there with pocket and monster pairs - in wednesday I think lost 5 USD when pushed all in with KK and hit to guy with nothing and guy with AA - I hit on turn K and he got A on river so I lost 5 USD.. It is fast you wont ran to snails in this kind of a game which I see as the biggest positive.. ;)

I play 5nl zoom and it really depends on the first 15-20 minutes. Either the action is good or it's not. I was able to win 3 bi after 2 tabling for 40 minutes. Play your good hands strong, steal as much as you can, set mine your low pairs.

its insanely swingy. I went on a 34 buy in upswing at 200NL zone on bovada last week, and in the last 2 hours I am on an 8 buy in downswing. This is the reality of zone. My biggest zone hand I've ever won is an 1800$ pot at 200NL, we were both like a zillion BB's deep and I stacked the villain with a boat. Will post a picture later if you guys want (as I was playing on my mobile device and managed to snap a shot)

do you prefer volume or developing reads? I'm an advocate of playing a huge volume and exploiting slim edges, but I am an extremely experienced player. To a developing player a regular 6max/full ring game would be better - as you can make notes and the monetary swings are much less significant.

Too zoom or not too zoom?

Again similar question :)
Should i stick to zoom or switch to reg tables till i improve?
Yday i had very bad session and i was down like 10bi over 2k hands... Should have stoped earlier but couldnt...
2x KKvsAA (vs same guy... ) set over chased set and floped full house vs floped quads....
dunno what to do now... Keep playing zoom or to move to reg tables... Wanted to stick to mtts but i have become mega nit in those for unknown reason...

I play zoom and sure it's slightly tougher than normal games it shouldn't be too different. Maybe play fewer zoom tables.

Weird question, if you want a good WR play regular tables; if you want volume play Zoom.

I play zoom and sure it's slightly tougher than normal games it shouldn't be too different.

But it is different :) Zoom definitely requires more postflop experience, especially the ability to find those thin value spots that are more transparent at regular tables and to be able to make some 'big' laydowns -> otherwise your graph would just be a one big swing: up and down. Also at Zoom you're working more with player pool population tendencies rather than a specific player (huge player pool, always changing tables, inability to gather a decent hand sample size).

i was down like 10bi over 2k hand's :) this can happen but more like 5BI down swing and 5BI tilt swing :) if you really think it through .

whn i loose 5BI fast i know

i fall in love with my hands = money lost

and i dont value bet thin enough = money lost

But man go with a 50-60% ipoker deal insted of zoom ( if you play 6max )

just our RB is the same as a bbhands of 7 to 9

Better switch to regular tables.

Zoom is the fastest way for BR swings - either up or down.

Ok now i officialy hate zoom, rush or any other format... volume of bad beats are beyond normal.... in 2 days i got 2 floped fullhouses vs quads and countless set over set situations....

Zone poker is an interesting concept. Like you mentioned, most of the hands played are those that are high hole cards and pocket pairs. The good news though is that you can play suited connectors and get in a pot with three or four limpers and have a good shot at taking down the pot. I have dramatically changed my strategy when playing zone poker as compared to multi-table or regular cash games.

I have noticed that it has affected me by how quick it is and the adaptation of going from normal play to the speed of zone. As long as you are aware of the style of play then you should be fine.

Basic poker play is profitable here, small hand = small pots, big hands = big pots. I only lost big pots on shameful bluffs, so the lesson is not to bluff in zoom! :)
