i just started playing Bovada Zone holdem 5nl about 2 weeks ago

i can't believe how some people play there, it has been like a candy store of micro money for me

im still wondering if it is just crazy coincidence and it just happens i am on some lucky streak that has been going on right when i started playing zone

doesn't seem like it though. i am getting the money in good a lot. i am not even really a holdem player, all i play ever is Omaha usually. only play HE turnys because thats what freerolls usually are

this Zone poker is almost changing most of my play right now to HE. i would have thought that impossible if you told me this a month ago.

my previous results trying HE cash ring have been horrendous and i stayed away like the plague after a while.

maybe its gets harder if i moved to 10 or 25, i don't know, i will try my hand eventually, but i am doing so good at 5 nl i will keep playing there, and playing there a lot.

and putting in alot more hands will really tell me if this is just a run of positive variance or not

it seems to me though that the play is so bad there that i am able to get away with folding a lot of hands where i may have the lead but i am not sure because i am taking such a great advantage with aggro value betting when i know i am ahead

and the nature of Zone makes it that no one can ever get a read on how i am playing, not even like on an anon ring table where if i was sitting for a while, people may pick up quickly my style of play

hows Zone been working out for some of you CCer's here?

Yes. On all levels of Zone, the play is generally pretty weak. At 5NL and 10NL especially.

i like it. I thought at first that people will only play big hands because you can fold so easily and move on right away. but i noticed other people tend to think that its just easier to bluff because of the same reason. the 10 25 game is probably the same. i only played that one and turned 25 into 200 in under an hour. when you get a roll on the table that is high though you may want to get off because than people will start to know who u are and might pick up tells. my opinion anyway

I am not sure it is any softer, the %players/flop is much lower on Zone. I have seen some pretty wild play though, I actually have a few videos of zone poker on YouTube if anyone is interested....

You can see that some of the players are making pretty huge mistakes... So I am loving it overall so far. I am going from 5NL to 200NL so you can see what all the levels look like (if they have 200NL anytime soon that is).

I played Zone last night for the first time. I decided to do the .02/.05 just to see what it was like and I gotta say I really enjoyed it. I bought in with $5 and in just a few hands was up to $14, not a lot but pretty good for micro I thought. All in all I really enjoyed it, even though I got sucked out on with my AA against KK, but life goes on, it was fun anyway and will probably do it again this evening.:)

Forgive my ignorance but what are the key differences from zone to regular NL?

When you play a hand you are sent to a new table and you don't wait for the other players to finish their hands. It is instant poker. There is a little more to it than that though. I am not sure how the blinds are picked but I am sure somebody more experienced can answer that.

I was thinking of depositing on Bovada and I think I might withdraw form Carbon and and switch. I really want to try zone poker.

I've never played Zone but I have played Rush and Zoom and I'm fairly certain they have an algorithm that ensures you get blinded correctly. Your position might change when not in the blinds but you never get double blinded or skipped on a blind. At least that's how it was on stars and full tilt.

^^^^^^^^ in general congrats on making more money on zone/zoom speed poker. I have to agree that it is much funner than normal speed tables and alot of the time especially in the micro's you see alot of fish making horrific plays.(that would be me)

But HUDS do work on speed poker (on stars at least) so i basically have a read on everyone im playing against. Dont think people arent getting reads on your style just cause its fast fold. It s even easier to accumulate larger numbers of hands on peopl;e cause you get to play so many per hour that you get even better reads versus certain villains.

Just wanted to throw that out there. good luck man.

From my experience with them it can be really profitable for TAG players. Also real easy to pick up quick bucks is from button and cutoff positions when there hasn't been a raise yet to make a raise, a lot of players are sitting on the fold to any bet option even in the blinds.

I enjoy playing it at times. It brings back memories of rush poker on tilt.

If I recall correctly the blinds work based on the bb being set to the person seated at the table who has been the longest without being the bb. So it is possible you can be hit with multip sb in a row for sure and am sure I have been hit with the bb at least back to back a few times.

is there something i don't know about zone poker?

how can anyone get a read on anyone? it is anonymous and your player number changes each time you switch tables. you are never going to know who you are playing against

very interesting, thanks for the explanation

i noticed that from time to time i was getting SB 2 times in a row

that system seems very fair, ive never felt i was getting blinds too often

it would be possible then to randomly get the SB a higher than normal amount but at 5nl its 2 cents so pretty inconsequential, and in the long run it would even out anyways

I don't know man...kinda stuck at the same stack as I started with. Win one and then will lose one.

What's your guys' range of starting hands in zone?

EDIT:

WOW. OK, SOME GUY RERAISED ME PREFLOP AND I HAD JJ, I called, and then the flop, turn & river were all undercards, and he bet pot size each street. Called him all in on the river and he flips over AJ...

ARE THEY ALL THIS BAD? But honestly though, I was gonna fold thinking he had QQ KK or AA...

Played for an hour .02/.05 and .05/.1, went from 5$ -> 22$ and 10$ ->19$.

It is indeed easy money.

I hit a lot of sets though when I got pockets...so maybe I was just on a good streak.

AS WITH REGULAR SPEED POKER, AS YOU MOVE UP THE COMPETITION GETS TOUGHER.
