Poker Player 100, please if you are going to give people advice and answer other posters questions, make sure your advice is at least solid, good advice, that is written in a well thought out and coherent manner. I don't know of anyone that would play trips on a board showing a straight or flush draw with a "check or call" strategy. That is fool-hearty to say the least. Anytime you play a hand, each step in that hand has to have a purpose, has to give you information. What information do you get from your opponent with a check or a call of a minimum bet on the flop? I can tell you what he gets from you, little neon signs that read "weak." You have to protect your hand in a situation like this. You can't the opponent see another card for free or for a minimum bet. He may already be 4 to the Flush with an ace in his hand and catch the nut flush on the turn or the river. You had him killed after the flop, with trips, but a weak play let him draw a hand better than yours and your weak betting pattern gives him the green light to railroad you the rest of the night. If you bet strong on the flop here, do you think he calls with an Ace high? Maybe, maybe not, but chances are, more often than not, he will lay an Ace high hand down against a strong bet on the flop and you pick up a pot.
