I've played online poker for about a year and a half now off and on. For the past year I've shown consistent profit at bodog at micro limits. I've read probably 6 or 7 books and consider myself to be a pretty good card player. I'm turning 21 soon and will get be going to a nearby casino a lot.

Please bare with me, it turned out to be an essay by accident.

I've played live twice. One came two years ago when I was first starting out. I lost 400 that night at an established home game with several sharks. I lost it mainly from being a little overwhelmed and caught in the spotlight. And the second time came a couple nights ago a card room at the beach.

Going in I told myself I was going to either play for 2 hours, double my money and leave, or lose it all and not buy back in.

I walk into the casino for the first time and I am lost. I go up to the desk, which happens to be right by the $1/$2, which was where I was headed. I ask a couple questions about what all I need to do. I then walk to the floor supervisor and ask about chips and all right by the table. So when I sat down it was obvious I was inexperience with casion's and it looked like I was just a typical "tourist fish".

Needless to say the table was licking their chops!
And of course the dealer was Asian and started learning english yesterday.

I only remember a few hands and I'm going to give a summary of each one and I want ya to critic them and see if I played them right.

I bought in with $150.

First hand I remember, I had pocket kings. I was first player after the bb. I bet $15. It gets to the big blind. He was an older guy. He calls. Flop is two diamonds and a heart. Like Q, 8, 4. He checks, I bet 15. He then calls. The turn comes a heart. He checks. I then bet $45 and took it down. The whole time my hand is shaking and I was fumbling chips. lol. He had to know I was holding something but I was really just nervous that it was my first hand in that enviroment.

A few hands later I get like pocket sixes two hands in a row. Once I call to a preflop $10 raise from the local "shark"( I could tell by table talk). FLop comes like 7 10 K off suit. He bet $15, I then folded. I won a little next hand by pre flop raising with 10 and then a half size c-bet. The guy said I have no idea what that kid has.

A little while later I get pocket 2's. The "local shark" again preflop raise from early position. It folds to me in the big blind. I call. He makes a comment like, "Oh, someone came to play. The flop comes something like, 8 Q 5. I bet out 15$. He folds and pause a few seconds and says nice bet. It felt good making that play for the first time in person.

I then get King, Q and raised 10 preflop and got the "old guy to my right" to call and he had position. Flop comes, 2, 6, 10. I check. He checks. Turn comes 8. I bet out $15. He calls. River comes like 3. I bet out $25 dollars and he calls with K 8 and takes it from me. This is the first time the table has seen my cards and it's a bluff.

I was up to like 220 and lost it in that hand so I was down to 160 or so.

Time goes by and the big one comes. I get 10 9 spades. I'm on the button and it folds to me. I limp in. The "local shark" from earlier calls and the big blind calls. Flop come 6 4 J with two spades. So the local guy bets out $15. Big blind calls. I then think for a minute and looked at both stacks and then looked them in the eyes. I reraised all in. I then started staking my chips about a foot in front of me all the while he stared me down. (Do I have to do that or can I leave them there when going all in). I look up and he says he calls. The big blind calls as well. We turn over the local shark has 2, 3 spades and the bb ha Q 8 spades. Turn comes something and misses us all but I don't remember it exactly. River comes and hits me with a 10. I took all the money. $420 total. I folded the next hand and left. I thought I had been playing for hours and it had only been like 40 minutes. The "Old guy" to my right says did that make you sleepy and I replied yes jokingly. Is this bad etiquette to leave like that?

But overall. Did I play those hands the right way?

I thought I would rely a lot more on live tells. But instead I think I was just nervous and bet the percentages like online. Maybe it will all start slowing down the more I play.

Always buy-in for the max. I like your preflop raise with the KK but everything else is pretty bad.

What books & how come you haven't answered responses in previous thread you started?
Did you find the cash game Hand analysis section? (someone posted it in your previous thread on here).

sorry, it's been a while since I started that last thread. I had forgotten about it.

But for books. I've read Doyles two books. One I read was by negreanu. The first harrington on holdem. Two more, but I've now forgotten the names because I read them and then returned them to the books a million as I do most of my books. Most recently I read the poker tournament formula by arnold snyder. And right now I'm reading Caro's Book of poker tells.

A lot of times I just go in the book store and read books for a while and scan through them all. So I've read through several books that I just don't remember the names.

the bet-out from BB was bad (check). The limp on the BTN was bad (raise). The re-raise all-in was bad (call). Not c-betting with the KQ probably bad.
