SB (SB): 112.2 BB (VPIP: 10.64, PFR: 10.64, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, hands: 47)
BB (BB): 103.7 BB (VPIP: 28.00, PFR: 17.33, 3Bet Preflop: 6.06, Hands: 77)
UTG (UTG): 89.1 BB (VPIP: 36.17, PFR: 6.38, 3Bet Preflop: 4.17, Hands: 47)
MP (MP): 116.1 BB (VPIP: 14.94, PFR: 10.67, 3Bet Preflop: 4.88, Hands: 333)
CO (CO): 77.7 BB (VPIP: 38.46, PFR: 23.08, 3Bet Preflop: 12.50, Hands: 41)
Hero (BTN): 105.2 BB

(As you can see, UTG's number's are extremely passive. I was running pretty standard numbers 20/16/8)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Dealt to Hero: As9d

UTG calls 1 BB, fold, fold, Hero calls 1 BB, SB calls 0.5 BB, BB checks

Flop (4 BB, 4 players): 5c9h4s
SB checks, BB checks, UTG bets 3 BB, Hero raises to 8 BB, fold, fold, UTG calls 5 BB

Turn (20 BB, 2 players): Kh
UTG checks, Hero bets 10 BB, UTG calls 10 BB

River (40 BB, 2 players): 5s
UTG checks, Hero checks

UTG shows Q9
(Two Pair, Nines and Fives)

Hero shows A9
(Two Pair, Nines and Fives)

Hero wins 37.4 BB

I know taking the free river is fine, but I feel like it's 100% suboptimal. I was not anywhere close to scared of the K on the turn, but the 5 on the river spooked me. I had him on basically his exact hand or a busted 6-7. I feel like I missed a solid amount of value on a really dry board. On a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being "go do something else with your free time) how bad is the check on the river?

Also, any thoughts on the rest of the hand?

Honestly, I hate your preflop line. Why limp on the button with that hand? I say raise it or fold it there.

Your flop play is ok. Flatting or raising is fine

Your turn play is fine.

Your river play is fine. If u bet it would be a bluff not a value bet IMO. He is never calling with a hand that you have beat. His range could be a busted straight draw or a pair. A pair of fives just went ahead. You played it very aggro so I doubt he would have called you on the river. He has to be afraid the five helped you or that he was way behind from the start.

I feel like you played it well except for preflop. You have to raise or fold in that spot. Why let the blinds in? Your hand is more difficult to play when you don't know the strength or your opponents hand preflop.

Yeah check back river is fine, raise or fold pre. Generally limping sucks, do ur best to just eliminate limping from ur preflop arsenal, it's bad news.

Your play at the hand was pretty good, checkicg the river is just fine, and the best thing from this hand is that u know ur opponent limping with Q9 and also calling re raise without position on flop with actually top pair bad kicker, he played the hand awful actually, i think if u raised the river he would fold and u would miss a lot of information at all :)

Don't mind the river check at all. Be sure to isolate pre though, you would have made more.

hi,utg showed little aggression (almost zero) throughout the hand, you should have bet on the river, and made the mistake of playing passive preflop you should have gained you were in position and others are very passive

You should state the stakes since it can effect the opponents' likely level of play.

Absent this into, either raise pre- to iso the limper or fold. A9o is likely to play better in a 2-way pot than 4-way, even with position, since it doesn't very well.

Check is fine for me. If you lose, at least you save other chips.
