Hi all,

Bit of a newbie here. I was just wondering, if playing in satellites and you win the entry, should you play in the tournament - which would be outside your bankroll "rules" - or unrego and keep the entry fee?

Peace,
M

Its all up to you really. But the smartest thing to do is just take the money and run. I won a satty to the 750K with only 6$, so I decided to go for the big one and busted shortly after the 1st break. I regreted playing, and wish I would have taken the 215$ since my my BR was around 300$ and it almost would have doubled it, meaning my stakes and buyins would be double, in turn meaning more money.

I agree with KC here, just make sure that the sat your playing allows you to do this, some don't.

Seems like the hit and run idea is the right thing to do. Thanks guys.

(Btw, for anyone who wants to know. On FT they give you the entry in 'tourney dollars', which if you want to change into real money, FT (evil horrible people) charge a 5% conversion commission. But you can use the 'tourney dollars' to enter other tourney and sngs.)

Another thing to consider, are you comfortable playing for the bigger bucks or will you be playing with scared chips? (afraid to lose any chips, playing extremely tight not wanting to call anything but the very best starting hands)

You have to be comfortable in the game or you're dead money to players that are comfortable. they'll see it quick and take advantage every time the opportunity arrives.

If you're not 100% sure will play the bigger payout game comfortably then the answer is simple, don't play satellite games. Soon enough you'll reach the skills where you're comfortable at higher stakes via satellite games, be patient.

Definitely. And there's at least one an hour, so easy to fit into a schedule.

Because the $2 sats are easier to win (1/5 of the players get a seat), I usually keep one seat to Sunday $100k, and keep playing the sats for T$. If I won a much bigger sat, then I'd probably take the money and run.
