Hey!I don't know if this has been treated before but while I was playing full tilt's (fairly) new rush poker I'm always amazed to see players at 150$ at the micro tables while I'm at 10!

I mostly get out of the tables when I'm about 20 to 30 max or when I lose everything lol.

What are the startegies to hitting such high numbers (150) when we start with only 10$?Is it playing only premium hands? Is it certain all-ins?Is it more bluffing and trying to steal fattened pots?Mostly I focus more on the player than the cards, but how can you do that when you don't know him like in rush poker?Does he just get "lucky" from 10 to 150 or is there more thought and skills into that?

Please share any insight into this matter because I am kinda clueless towards optimum playing on this new system and need all the advice I can get to try it again.(That is if it is advised to play on it hehe).

Rush threads here and here.

Playing rush ($10nl) and expecting to make money requires a minimum bankroll of $200, the same as a normal $10nl cash game.
Mostly tight play is considered to be best but some people like stealing a lot of pots because of everyone else hitting the quick fold button.
There are some interesting dynamics with button vs blinds pots because of all the stealing and you see light 3betting in rush at $10nl where you don't expect to see it in $10nl cash games much at all.

Rush poker favors aggression, well timed i should say, it also rewards a solid TAG style.

I think overall a very LAG style would not be benefical in the long run at rush. Keep in mind 3 betting often and opening with a wide range in mp/lp/button stealing blinds is very much a requirement too even if ur playing tigher. Ive actually cut down a bit on flop cbets while playing rush though, you have such a overall lower rate of success and it hurts ur bottom line.

The players crushing rush are playing fairly tight, fact.

I played several thousand hands over the last couple weeks. It was fun but I am finding it tough to make money. The $10 buyin seems easier than the $5. The $5 buyin it just seems impossible to get ahead. There has been a lot of strange play. Stick to play a couple regular tables instead of a rush table if you are having a hard time with it. I've gone back to SNG's and I do better at those than cash games anyway.

Rush is a combination of math and position. One thing I also find that helps me is to also look at my opponents stack size. If over 10 they are prolly at least decent. Watch out to see if your opponents bet sizes are appropriate for the board texture.

I think too many people are making too big a deal of the difference.

The main argument is that you can't get reads on opponents because HUDs don't work but Holdem Manager has already remedied that problem. Other trackers will follow.

Play good hands and win monies!!

TAG is the way. Leaving while ahead is also good. I like to triple up and move on. Longer play seems to have a negative impact on my bankroll.

BTW - just tripled and left again. My biggest win was hitting a nut straight on the river followed by a sudden and miraculous escalation of betting which led me to a double against two pair unreal. Fish are out tonight go get some:)

I agree with bostonrobber the most times i had succes was when i tripled up or something...more i would lose it to a sick hand like full house against quads or highest flush against full and such.
I think we should maybe enter the same amount, play TAG, triple our winnings, quit, rinse and repeat until we feel we hit a losing streak...

I'm inclined to agree with Elie and Boston, the first night I tried rush, I shouldn't have tried it. It was the day my FTP account was cleared for use and I had a random $30 sitting in there, so I didn't deposit and went straight for rush to try it out. I figured one or two buyins would be ok to lose just to check it out since I forgot there was any money in there anyway. I went up to $90 my first night with little problem playing $10. After that I didn't play till they had $5 going. I'd do good do good do good blamo gone. Double/triple up and move on to normal ring game poker imo. Rush is something fun to do that's different, don't go losing tons like I did with it.

Crack poker with AA --- can you fold this?

I'm so on tilt because of this ****ing game I can't see straight.

Was down 2 and a half $2 buy-in's... Figured, what the hell, I was pot committed on the bonus to get the 10 FPP's... So, I worked myself back up to nearly even. Then variance just smacked me into reality:

Full Tilt, $0.02/$0.05 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 9 Players

Oh well... I figured I cleared the bonus with that one - so I'm only down like $1 or so for the effort.

Yeah this kind of stuff happens all of the time, but it doesn't happen on Rush anymore than it does on the regular tables. The only difference is that you are seeing way more hands, so you see much more ridiculous(sp) hands. I've had quads 3 or 4 times in the last few days, and I've had my full house beaten by quads a few times. All things considered, however, I like Rush a lot.

If someone has $150 from $10, I don't think they can win 15 buyins from just getting lucky. They'd need incredible luck over several big pots, and not get unlucky themselves...

They are probably decent players just on a heater.

My strategy for playing rush poker is to either wait for AA AK AQ AJ KK QQ JJ then once I get one of these hands I either raise 3BB or push all in depending what the people in front of me do. Now if you use this strategy you will either get a huge stack or go broke after your first couple of all ins

i just started playing it a couple days ago, and must say that i am addicted!! some things that seem to be working well for me:

1) i DON'T raise from the button preflop if i don't have a hand. it is such a common technique that most of the time, you will get called down. the game moves so fast that you will be on the button every couple of minutes, that you will need the play to be successful about 65% of the time just to break even. if you're c betting these bluffs and still not winning, then you'll need the button bluff to be successful more than 70% of the time. i find that limping from the button (in an un raised pot) and betting at the flop if it gets checked around works better. it seems like people are more willing to believe that you caught a piece of the flop than they are to believe that you have anything before it.

2) don't get heavily invested if you don't have the nuts. you see between 3 or 400 hands per hour (and that's just single tabling), so don't feel bad about laying those aces down when the flop comes 4 5 6 of spades and the other guy is going crazy. in the past two days, i have run into quads twice (once i had pocket aces and lost to 4 9s, the other time i had pocket 9s and lost to a jack in the hole when the flop came j j j). i have run into a straight flush when holding the best full house. it's always hard to give the other guy credit for these types of hands, but when you play this many hands per hour, it will start to feel like a regular occurance. sooner or later, you'll catch one of these hands and get paid off (hopefully).

3) since the majority of players raise pre flop from the cutoff or button, if i catch aces or kings in EP, i will limp and wait to put in a nice raise. i rarely do this in regular games. however, in rush, it works pretty well because someone in LP raises about 80% of the time (so it seems)

4) the main thing is, don't be afraid to lay a hand down. it seems like i get aces every 5 or 10 minutes, so there will be a better spot to get your money in if some guy shoves and you're agonizing over a call. even the tightest players will see the flop 100 times an hour.....

Soonerdawg very well put, i agree with your sentiments and suggestions about rush poker...

one thing that i need to point out however is towards those who are under the notion that tight and i mean TIGHT (AA/KK/QQ/JJ/AK) is the way to play it, one thing to consider is that if you are waiting for these hands, the variance of which you will get these hands (and heres the catch), get these hands AND get action.... the amount of small blinds and big blinds that were folded would more than likely given a -$... and the other side of this is that if AA/KK etc are the only hands being played, what happens when the flop comes 567 suited ?? "you" have waited so long for these pre-flop monsters, will you be able to lay them down?

I honestly think RUSH poker is a game of timed aggression and understanding when you attempt 2 or 3 barrel bluffs and when to know its time to give up...

One more note... instead of trippling up to 30 leaving and playing a regular table, why not triple up to 30, leave and come back in? one thing about rush poker is that you can take the money out of the table and come back in for the original 10, leaving you with a 20$ profit incase you go bust...

Hopefully my rant wasnt too much of a wall of text

one thing that cracks me up is how many people go all in pre flop with aces....guess they've gotten spanked one too many times that they're just not gonna take no crap:viking:

i have been wanting to discuss this topic as i just started playing rush poker recently...I have had alot of success playing it...i dont think i have left a session yet without a profit...i approach the game waiting for wired cards or suited face cards...play them aggressively preflop and make my decision after the flop...in most cases post flop in this game its down to 2 or 3 handed with the remaining 3 players probably willing to move on to the next if they missed the flop...so while you are waiting for a monster to get paid off, there are alot of post flops pots and preflop blinds that can be stolen...the game is great as you can see 500 hands in an hour fairly easily...its a poker game you can play anytime...if i have stuff to do around the house i can play 10 hands, go take care of something, come back and play 5 more and so on....needless to say i am a big fan of rush poker...mess around with it, develop your own strategy.

cheers and gl
