Maybe they find it to be a rush? They suck at 100BB play? They will have an easier time doubling through monsters? Could be a number of reasons

So they are fish? :p

Has there ever been anyone known for SS play in cash games? Is their actual strategy to it besides nut peddling?

Mostly fish, but some do it as actual strategy and yes they suck at 100bb play.

They play shove fold for the most part. Quick double up and run. Used to drive me nuts when I was grinding 25nl.

The short stack gives u easier decision and losing less money, short stacks also are more disciplined. I cant tell that all these players are fishes i saw good players making from 10$ to100$ in an hour at 25 NL :)

My explanation behind this is that they dont have much money and are trying to double up ( just Going all-in on Ax ), I've done that. Mostly because I dont care whether I would lose or not, but if I double up I got a chance to build a bankroll ( I havent done it with 10 dollars, of course ). They might be looking to have some fun, or dont wanna sit at a table with the maximum limit. Or simply dont have to funds to buy-in with the maximum limit.

Could be a desperate strategy, just like tossing your last black chip on "red" at the roulette table, or could be an attempt to inject some discipline into their sessions by limiting the amount at risk. Win big, lose small, etc.

Why do people play 25NL and sit with $10
IMO it's because they don't like to play multi-street poker and they have a small penis.

EDIT: But seriously, a SSer who knows what they're doing can really get in the way of regs trying to iso other players or play with implied odds type hands etc. ... oh and they haven't got the stones to sit there with 100bbs.

I have to agree with this, I just moved up to 25NL and they are just little annoying pest if anything. I seem to have no choice rather than to just tighten up and never really call their bets.

I go as far as to not even sit at tables where there is 2 or more SS at a 6max table. Is this the correct thing to do? They are easy to play against and are pretty straightforward. Just that you never really get proper (implied)odds against them unless you have a big pocket pair or AJ+

THEY SHOULD JUST GO PLAY 10NL :p

I'm not too sure but I think it used to be that 20BB was the minimum BI at alot of sites. There were alot of SS grinders/abusers who would double up and leave tables and wait until they can buy in for 20BB again. It made alot of people unset and poker sites increased the minimum BI to 40BB. I could be wrong but I vaguely recall something like this happening though I wasn't really playing back then so I wouldn't know for sure but I'm pretty certain this happened.

So yea, some people are proficient at playing with those stack sizes. Ultimately, while medium stacks are not as easy push/fold as short stack play, they both look to exploit big stacks that cannot adjust to their presence. And well if they are serious about it and can't exploit you or anyone else on the table, they'll probably just leave and find a juicy table.

I love to play against small stakes because they just don't have the money to hurt me. I can slow play big hands/shove hands like AQ/JJ without a fear and no chance they are gonna 3-barrel bluff me out.

I was a very big winner on a table I lost an All-in to a small stack and then again lost 2 more medium sized hands. But then it took just one hand to get it all back. :)

People shortstack for various reasons including but not limited to these.

It's less complex, so they feel they can play more tables and/or be just as profitable while having to make fewer tough decisions.

They think they gain an edge by annoying some opponents.

Some do it occasionally for a change of pace.

While it's not a good reason, some do it out of fear of losing more.

From your guys experience do short stacks at 25NL ever bluff?

Let me give you the gist of this hand I should of folded

I have AA and raise standard preflop and get a call from BB

Flop comes Q610 Rainbow

I CB for about $2.00 3/4 pot and he raises to $6 and leaves $2.50 behind so I just push him all in and he flips up Q10 for 2 pair and holds up to crack my aces.

Considering he had a 40BB stack in 25NL, should I have folded to his flop raise? Is a short stack ever getting it all in with anything less than 2 pair there? MAYBE with AQ but I still kind of think they would not raise with TPTK.

I just want to figure these little guys out so I can figure out how to play better against them. Thanks for the advice.

whats wrong with shortstacks :)
there is in fact strategy to play shortstacked... people feel better when they lose half of money when their AA gets cracked, and beside that its easier to shove with smaller stack...

and a few notes : :)

Short stack tips overview.

Play simple ABC poker. Avoid attempting to bluff and just bet when you have a strong hand.
Only enter pots with premium hands.
Fold small pocket pairs and suited connectors as you have do not have implied odds.
Make strong 4BB raises before the flop.
Be prepared to move all of your stack in to the middle before or on the flop.
Leave the table if you win a big pot (and intend on playing short-stacked

last one drives people nuts :) i know when someone take moneyz and split :D
