Hello all I have beem playing poker for a few years now just for fun and pass time until these past 2 months I decided to try and see if I could actually make some money playing poker. So I started with 15 dollars and my goal is 1000 dollars for now. But basically I have been playin 1 dollar 45 man sng and now I have about 130 dollars on my account so I've been trying some 3 dollar 45 man sng. I would just like to hear any suggestions on wether or not this is the level I should be playing at cause I was extremly comfortable playing 1 tournaments and not quite as comfortable with the 3 dollar tournaments. I consider myself a pretty good player so I would love to know what you think

I think you just answered your own question. If you're more comfortable playing the $1 SNGs, play those. Besides, I'd build your bankroll up before you move up limits. Good luck!

A good general rule of thumb that I try to go by is no more than 5% of your bankroll in any one hand and no more than 2% in any large tournament. Because Sit n' goes are like tournaments I would stay closer to the two percent range. Because you were making money at the $1 stake tourni's and losing at the $3 stake ones, I would suggest staying at the $1 level for now.

I must agree with nutshooter, no metter how good you are their are times that you go on loosing staight and its not good idead to waste all your bankroll on it.

This logic could go against the normal bankroll management concept as far what percentage to use but as a reward for cashing in the $1.00 set a side some to play the $3.00 smaller feild tournaments say 9 or 18.

I think playing $1 SNGs with 15 dollars was not good but hey if it got you to 130 well done.

If I were you I would try and build up to $300 and then play 3/45s and maybe the odd 4/180 maybe mix in some 2/180s (turbo) if you are comfortable with turbos.

I am assuming your playing on stars so make sure you are playing $1+20c not +40c to.

Once you have like $400-$500 you should be playing 4/180s imo and mix in some larger field MTTs aswell just make sure your ABI is like $4-$5, again if your playing on stars there are some good $1 MTTs with like 500 and 1000 cap and there is also a $4 1000cap 8 max MTT to.

Continue until around 300-400 at the 1 dollar SnGs before you move up, thats the correct move with your BR...

Thanks for all your in put guys I am definetly gonna stay at the 1+10 limit for now. Even though last night I took down an 8th place 1+10 rebuy turbo on stars for a whopping 180 dollars which brought my total bankroll up to 286 dollars. But like most of you guys said I'm gonna grind out the dollar tourneys til I get to at least 300 which isn't too far away now!

dont worry mate, the transition takes some time to adjust...Give it some time...
If u are very uncomfortable, then i would like u to try 2$ games and then go for 3$ games...
But seeing ur advance from 15$ to 130$, i would say its ok for u to try atleast 10 games of 3$ buyin, before u think of switching back to 2$ or 1$ buyin games...
