Within a year and a half of playing pub tourneys/freerolls/home games.
I then decided to try online microstakes. I've been playing for a year now online
and i'm definetly still a losing player due to a few factors. Distractions/discipline are really taking effect, when i get a good run and should stay on i get the wife asking me to come to bed or have i done something around the house yet and become in a huff.
after playing 1hr of microstakes and reading up videos online and getting some experience in my belt. I started playing at the local casino i have accumalated 3000 winnings there so far. This year i have 2 losing sessions out of 9, 1st loss was due to folding a straight to a loser player who then losses my chips to another. Maybe if a winner had won that hand i wouldn't have let it get to me so much, and i didn't recover and i didn't move from a dead table which was another mistake of mine ... 2hrs without a decent hand fold after fold. And when i played a hand i got raised and had to fold was a good learning curve that night.

2nd loss was 1077 on the board and i had a better 10 then the villain and he got his miracle 9 where my 10 missed, he had 10 9 and i had k10...

Anyways after all this i'm learning more with my live game and taking regular breaks even transferring tables when tables don't seem to be moving chips or dead tables.
Online i'm struggling still after a year to even keep even, i'll have a good run but eventually tilt will get the better of me. Is there any measures or tips you can give me to avoid tilt online and layout a structure which will minimize distractions.

I'm about to start playing the casino 2nd night of the week because it's where i'm winning and ofc you gotta be where you win most. But i believe to become a pro player in the future online is a must not sure why i just know i have to be a winning online to even think about quitting my job. I read up somewhere that it can take up to 7 yrs to be a pro player... If i do make 10k i'm sure on the path this year but i'll have to either player more nights of the week at the casino or creep up stakes at casino to increase my live bankroll.

Putting money in my bankroll online is considered dead money.. And i know this is also a leak in my game because i need to get rid of that frame of mind and do everything in my power to make sure it's winning and stay determined.

Anyways sorry typing my thoughts atm with poker. fustrated with online. and wife needing to let me out more :)

Hmm atm my poker trackers hand history is too large and i'm having problems with it... I need to scrap it and start again and get a month sample.
Atm i've been dropping off my small blind play since thats where ive been losing most of my money because it's the worst position as well.
Donk bets on the flop does work well though unless they do have high pockets.
I'm calling the raisers with Axs Kxs trying to call only if in late position and if 3 players are at least in the pot.
My range to a 3bet normally is Axs... and any pockets hoping to catch a set on someone. I'm more likely to fold KJ K10 to a raiser... I reraise when i have AK or KK AA.

I love flush/straight draw chasers especially when i have 65s... and 7410 come out and it's 4 suited cards :) i normally get all my chips in trapping the tags.

Lost 450 lastnight at the casino which hurts and what hurts more is the wife saying its just gambling which is a double stab at me really which isn't required.

I'll see if i can fix my pokertracker up because i do have a decent size sample but the problem is its too big and it freezes up.

I'll hold you to that offer because i'm desperate to improve with my online... My online slowly decreases even though i do have winning days.
My live is good due to the amount i play online. I'm more of a guy who breaks out the boom box and ups his stack pretty quickly and consistently just the off days sting.

Cafeman what if i pretend i'm starting from scratch... My pokertracker 4 is giving the poo's ... plus i'll be depositing in the near future with a fresh bankroll prolly $100
Is there any other good poker tools that could provide feedback (something basic or user friendly pref) I play roughly 2 hrs a night during the week sometimes a lil more, and probably 4 hours on the weekend a day. So it shouldn't take too long to rack up a sample size and i'll make sure i'll play extra hours to provide the feedback quicker.

I play once a week live which provides me with expenses of my online since i seem to win more times than lose live at a 1/3 table... that consistent i was thinking of going to 2/4 at the casino and having a crack.

My bankrolls are slowly lasting longer online as i improve... Perhaps 1/3 live games is my game, perhaps those dollar tourneys online is where i should be focusing to build a solid foundation. I must succeed with poker so any feedback and help will be greatly appreciated since I MUST do this for myself .. I just know i was born to play poker and i know it's a bumpy ride... didn't realise that ppl outside of poker would try and talk me down though but i dont let them effect me.

deposited 50... and will only single table 2nl until i improve.
I've multied up to 6, 4 tables seemed to work though and would often win 3/4 tables quite easily

Good news is i've started imported hands on pokertracker its come up at 18,000 and 4 tournaments summaries.
Hope it finishes it also comes up with errors along the way... but that would be a big enough sample right?

Aces have you checked out Crushing the Microstakes by BlackRain79? it is a great book to start out with.

I started with that and Leakbuster when i first started learning cash games, and both really helped get down some of the fundamentals as well as patch up a lot of the things i was doing wrong.

You could also post your overall stats, and maybe get some feedback here on the forum.

5k? Not really, but it depends on what you're looking for I suppose. Certainly it will give you an idea of your vpip/pfr.

Loss mitigation

If you want to ensure the downward spiral can be mitigated i have a simple formula which has proven quite effective @ the 2NL-16NL range.

My Bankroll at any stake is 50Buy ins (100BB)... Currently @ 16NL so bankroll is >$800.
In any given session on the tables (usually 4-6 multi tabling) I will focus on playing Tight aggressive poker. If i start well and my win rate is above 5BB/100hands im happy and enjoy my current stakes. If i however am having a bad day and i notice i am down 2 Buy ins. In my case ($32). i will start to cut down my 16NL tables and instead sit on the 10NL tables....

It is not unusual to experience loss streaks of 10 Buy ins.... so instead of losing ($160 or 20% of Bankroll) @ 16NL i will lose:

-$32 @ 16NL
-$20 @ 10NL
-$10 @ 5NL
-$8 @ 2NL

=$70 (8.75% Bankroll)

It does seem counter intuitive and im sure many players out there would not even bother with this mitigation (each to their own) but having been a heavy gambler and learning the hard way, i force myself to follow these guidelines.... it has helped to take the gamblers edge out of my poker and gives me a chance to play multiple stake levels and alot more hands for the long term growth and development of my game.

It must be understood, that to move up in stakes once again, at each level you must win back the 2 Buy ins at the above stakes...

i.e you lose 2Buy ins @16NL so you drop to $10NL... you must now play 10NL and win back 2 buy ins @10NL (you are still down from your original amount but atleast you have somewhat mitigated some of your losses... if you move back up and again lose 2 Buyins you simply move back down .... :)

I hope that this will in some way help you!

peace :willy:
