Within a year and a half of playing pub tourneys/freerolls/home games.
I then decided to try online microstakes. I've been playing for a year now online
and i'm definetly still a losing player due to a few factors. Distractions/discipline are really taking effect, when i get a good run and should stay on i get the wife asking me to come to bed or have i done something around the house yet and become in a huff.
after playing 1hr of microstakes and reading up videos online and getting some experience in my belt. I started playing at the local casino i have accumalated 3000 winnings there so far. This year i have 2 losing sessions out of 9, 1st loss was due to folding a straight to a loser player who then losses my chips to another. Maybe if a winner had won that hand i wouldn't have let it get to me so much, and i didn't recover and i didn't move from a dead table which was another mistake of mine ... 2hrs without a decent hand fold after fold. And when i played a hand i got raised and had to fold was a good learning curve that night.
2nd loss was 1077 on the board and i had a better 10 then the villain and he got his miracle 9 where my 10 missed, he had 10 9 and i had k10...
Anyways after all this i'm learning more with my live game and taking regular breaks even transferring tables when tables don't seem to be moving chips or dead tables.
Online i'm struggling still after a year to even keep even, i'll have a good run but eventually tilt will get the better of me. Is there any measures or tips you can give me to avoid tilt online and layout a structure which will minimize distractions.
I'm about to start playing the casino 2nd night of the week because it's where i'm winning and ofc you gotta be where you win most. But i believe to become a pro player in the future online is a must not sure why i just know i have to be a winning online to even think about quitting my job. I read up somewhere that it can take up to 7 yrs to be a pro player... If i do make 10k i'm sure on the path this year but i'll have to either player more nights of the week at the casino or creep up stakes at casino to increase my live bankroll.
Putting money in my bankroll online is considered dead money.. And i know this is also a leak in my game because i need to get rid of that frame of mind and do everything in my power to make sure it's winning and stay determined.
Anyways sorry typing my thoughts atm with poker. fustrated with online. and wife needing to let me out more
