Or open ended straight draws if opp is neither very tight or very loose?

One of my leaks right now is 3betting, or lack of it. When I have a strong draw I like the idea of betting it hard but when should I try it? what circumstances have to be in place? ((25nl FR))

I´m not a fan of 3-betting drawing hands, but then again it´s a very powerful move so your opponent really needs to have a hand to stay in.

In general I would say that you should only 3-bet your drawing hands if you pretty sure that your opponent does not have top-pair or better, and the 3-bet should usually be BIG and not a minimumraise.

Hello,
Great question, I am trying to resolve that issue myself.

When to semi-bluff.

I have no problem understand the technique. My problem is courage. It is difficult to hammer at a pot when you are deep into a tournament and the semi-bluff move is going to take 30% of your stack. However, if it works.....you are in phat city!!! Having the guts to pull the trigger is what I need to work on.

However enough about me....to answer your question it really boils down to how well you know your opponent. Is he a loose-passive player that will call you down to the river? A tight-agressive opponent? Tight-weak? You have to know where your opponent is capable of doing.

Other issues you need to consider: do you have position on your opponent? If this is a tourny, how deep are you in? What is the relation between the blinds/ante's on your stack and what is the relation between the blind/ante's on your opponents stack.

If all those conditions are favorable then push in a bet of at least 1/2 the size of the pot. You might even consider a pot size bet.

There is no easy answer to your question. Hopefully some folks here can give us more input.

and the 3-bet should usually be BIG and not a minimumraise.

The minimum bet is the most irritating move in poker. The pot at $10,000 and some goof puts in the minimum bet. With someone like that I'm going to put in a huge raise (pot size) to see if they have any guts. Most of the time they are going to be pushed out of the hand. If they decide to call, that's fine too. Being a tight/agressive player that only plays 17% of my hands i am going to have something. If I connect with the next card, expect another pot sized bet.

Limpers need to be hammered.
