When to push

When in a tournament should you start making a move?
i usually do it when I am down to 4x BB, is that too late?

with me its 8 BB, but if your on the bubble people will often fold to smaller allins

Usually start to push when you have around 5x or less the BB+SB+Antes. It is important to have a decent understanding of you position, the players to follow and if any players have already limped or pushed the action before you.

4xBB IMO is way too low, in a usual situation not on or near the bubble having so few chips doesn't give you any fold equity. That is, making it hurt to call your push.

I would say 8-10 x BB is a better time.

I do it when i'm 5-6 x BB, depends on the hand and position tho

^^^ this, if you wait longer longer you can't do much damage to anyone's stack and even if you double up say with an M of 4 you are still looking to have to double up again really soon. HOH stresses not waiting to long even if it means you have to a bigger chance to do so.

I start looking when im between 20-15 BB's. If I get a premium hand in that range I will push no matter the position. Once I get below 15, I look for a good hand and an optimal spot. If I fall below 10, the first good hand I get I'm going. You can't wait until the point that your all in's will get 3+ callers and that a win only puts you in a position to look for another all-in hand.

First, welcome to CC. I see this is your 1st post.

Like so many strategic questions, the correct answer to this question is- it depends. So many factors figure into tjis- certainly where the bubble, or next bubble is what kind of read you have on your table mates, position, first in vigorish all play a roll in the decision making process, as well as your M. Try for opportunities to attack an average, medium sized stack, while you still have enough chips to inflict damage. In general, 4BB is too low to go before movng. You don't have enough clout to push out anybody , big stacks will often call with ATC in such a situation, because losing to you won't affect their overall position much. And, be wary of ultra short stacks, 'cause they're in fold or shove mode already. Try and isolate an average stack and move on them, ;cause they have the most at stake. And start looking for opportunities when you get to 10BB, mas o menos.

By this point in a tourney, even picking up the blinds and antes is huge to your survival. Be situation oriented more than card oriented.

It depends on the format your playing in general,such as major online tourneys or MTT or Sng's really.Overall even though this can be a situational thing due to bubbles along with money and such.You should push all-in when your stack is too low that no one will fold to it with a semi-good hand.When your stack is no longer a legitimate threat when you push all in you've waited too long my friends
