I started playing micro stakes cash game and one day I was playing for like, 2 hours. I doubled my stack and kept playing because I was feeling lucky. Then after 3 hours I lost all the profit that I've made.

After this session I started wondering: "When is ideal to stop a cash game session?"

I posted a similar thread here, I think the responses will help with your question:

https://www.cardschat.com/forum/cash-games-11/do-you-cashing-when-youre-up-461007/

Personally, I try and cash out when I start catching myself making mistakes, particularly if I start playing scared of losing my profit. I like the idea of pulling out after making 1 buy-in, then re-entering with that buy-in as it means worst case you're break even for the session.

In my opinion, it is best to stop, when you feel you loose many consecutive hands or you are feeling you are going to tilt or to loose all of your bankroll. Never mind, if you are on loss or not, stop when you face with these two things. Also, if you double up, it is recommended to stop again. Many people in that position think that now it is the time to build a huge bankroll, but usually loose all of the money. Do not give on the emotions.:)

I do the same thing. I guess once your luck starts to turn, get out. Once I am up a decent amount I will get pocket pairs like AA, KK ;QQ and someone goes all in, so I have to call. Every time I get beat and lose all my money. One time I had AA and I called an all in. The A hole only had a 2 and a 9. Cards fell ##2#2 so I lost to trips.

My opinion as a player who has been playing for more than 5 years. To start, you need to set a specific mode, for example, no more than 2 hours. As you become more active and improve the quality of the game, you can increase this time. The second point is to immediately stop the game when you feel tired or uncomfortable in the game.

the ideal is to always close with the kk profit
it is a little difficult to stop playing when you are winning, but it is necessary for discipline and control.

One important factor that should force you to complete the session. This is tilt! Even though the results of one particular day are far from an indicator of your long-term winrate, nevertheless, due to an unsuccessful minus session, you can start making irrational decisions, guided only by emotions and anger, which can negatively affect your ability play.

I don't like playing cash games, you have a lot to lose if you don't pay attention and you can't control yourself. But if I played and doubled my money, I'd be out.

I think the ideal time to stop a cash game session is when simply, you are done playing. That may seem to oversimplify if, but the reality is, there are going to be all kinds of situations you may be in when you decide you should stop playing. Maybe you aren't playing well and even though you're down, you should stop and try again in a future session. Maybe you aren't playing well, but happen to have gotten lucky. Maybe you're tired. Maybe you don't have much time left anyway. And the list goes on. But in the type of situation you mentioned, if the good feeling of being ahead (and your bankroll being better at that moment) is enough of a reason to stop and walk away happy, then go ahead and stop. There's nothing wrong with stopping if your happy, and content. If you are playing well, and have plenty of time to keep playing, then strongly consider continuing to play. You just need to be able to make yourself at least somewhat comfortable with the fact that, if you continue to play, you may lose all that you're ahead and maybe worse, but that's okay because that's poker sometimes, but you are playing well right now, so it's better to keep at it.

If you take poker seriously, you should think about the distance to a certain period of time, that is, you will be forced to play a large number of hands, regardless of whether they were successful or not, and later analyze your game and take into account all the mistakes and shortcomings. Therefore, set a goal to play a certain number of hands or tournaments and then finish the session, so you will think less about whether to leave the table now or wait for the arrival of good cards.:)

I stop playing when I start losing. But even I might stop earlier once I notice my cards are cold, not catching anything , even after seeing flop after flop and cant catch I stop there.

As any investment I like to set goals for them. A take profit and a stop loss for the session. This helps me overcome tilt cause winning or losing I'm sticking to my plan. Cash games should be view as a long-term run

There is a lot of advice on this. The main thing to think about is your game and your emotional.

Try to take notes of your game, like how long you can play your best, what your goal is and your bankroll.

When you win many times, it might be better leave the table. For example, I play with 2 dollars, after good hands I grow to 10 dollars, almost all other players will have about 2 dollars, it is better to leave this table, there are some rules to leave the table with more money, you need to read about that and maybe try to play a little more and quit only if you're starting to lose.

One of the main advantages of the game for money is that you can end the session at any time. Therefore, build on your personal feelings. If you realize that you are tired or you are just tired of playing, stop.
The same thing happens to me periodically. I can play 2 or 3 hours plus (for example, if according to the conditions of a daily task or promotion where you need to get a certain rake or collect a certain combination) and then I start to lose due to tiredness. I stop the game. I rest for some time and go into battle with renewed vigor!

there's no blueprint in stopping

what you need is CONTROL it's hard but we need to manage ourselves

the moment you feel like you are not playing at your 101%, then it's time to say sayonara.

run good always

I fully support this opinion, in 80-90% of cases, if you manage to double or triple the stack and still stay in the game, there is a complete decline, and you remain at best at your own, if you manage to leave the table in time. Probably this problem befalls all novice players.

I learned one lesson in this situation. If I win and I have a profit, I exit the table. Otherwise, there will inevitably be a loss of money. That's just sometimes you want and hope that your luck time will last but there is a loss.

I play every day at the cash tables .... and what I have done is set a schedule for the gaming sessions .... my sessions have a time of 3 hours of play and I finish them ... regardless if I have won or lost ... but also after spending an hour at the same table and if I lose half a stack I change tables ...

When that happens I first ask why? Am I making mistakes? Or did I just lose two buy ins in one hand because my tens made a set and so did villians kings, bad luck that happens?

If I'm making mistakes or if I feel rushed to win it back then I quit. Otherwise I remind myself I made the correct decision and that one or two buy ins is not much compared to my entire bankroll.

But is a buy in 10% or 1% of your bank roll? If it's 10% its going to be a lot hard emotionally to take a loss of one or two buy ins. IOW having a good bankroll management will help you deal with variance. The less you give a crap about your buy in the easier you can keep your emotions out of it.

Have you ever thought that a cash game is not the best solution for you? Try playing with micro-limits.

In this situation, I think your emotions were higher than you. You thought you were going to make a lot of money, and you started making bad decisions. If you play cash, don't forget to enjoy the game, don't think about money, you have to play for the sake of hands, the process of playing poker. If the table is very inconvenient for you, try to change the table and opponents.

The best time to end the game is when you lose and want to immediately return what you lost. If you lose today, be strong and go away to come back tomorrow and win more.
