Hey guys, I have a question regarding flat calling preflop in full ring. I often find myself falatting with mid to high pocket pairs 99-QQ. and ill usually flat with AQ vs a fish but usually fold it vs a reg. i know there are a lot of factors in which to consider (position, player stats, stack size). As a general rule when do you guys find yourself flatting in full ring?

Well, personally I don't flat call in ring games as I don't think it's a very good move.
In ring games I play the cards strengt according to the position. I'm not playing to the player stats or stack size. I look at how the other players are playing, and if I find my hand strong enough regarding to my position I raise. If there has been a raise before me, that's a different matter. Then I need a much stronger hand to re-raise him.

Hope this is useful :)

Regards!

Flat calling with A,Qos seems reasonable. If it's suited and they only min raised I'd defintely re-raise. As for flat calling with Queens..that's like possibly one of the worse plays in my opinion. You have no reads on what they have at all. You could be up to any sort of hands, suited connectors, low pair and then post flop unless you hit trips you're in a difficult situation. I'd re-raise the person who raised, if you're re-raised by 3bet I'd flat call then. Most of the time you can expect to be agaisnt Aces,Kings,A,K. Flat calling 9'9s seems ok I'm thinking.

Niantic - No offense, but i disagree with almost everything you said. Flat calling with AK and a lot of mid to low pocket pairs(for set mining) is standard. Regarding your comment about player stats: so you're telling me you would play the same against a 80/20 Vpip/PFR fish as you would vs a 8/6 super nit? Not a whole lot of help from your comment sorry.

ramdeebam- Good comment, a lot of good ideas. Quick question for you, if you're on the button and faced with a 3x raise from MP what is the worst hand you would 3-bet with and what is the worst hand you would flat call with? Also, when it comes to 3-betting what is the normal amount you raise when faced with a 3x raise and do you deviate the raise amount if you're raising with AA vs raising something like AKs?

If I have 99+,AQ+ and position on a fish I would generally try to isolate (depending on stats, stacks, table dynamics, etc.)

I try not to flat call preflop too much, although it can be very profitable with good implied odds hands, like lower pocket pairs.
Again, this depends on stacks, etc. I dont want to flat call vs. a villain only 35bbs deep (I try to avoid shortstackers anyways, so.)

If stacks are full (100bbs+) and I have a decent read on the villain (50/30 over say 30 or so hands in MP, I'm on CO with 55) and others still to act (BTN and blinds are playing somewhat tight-passive preflop) I like to flat call, hoping to either hit the flop hard and stack villain or occasionally out play them postflop.

I try not to flat call from the blinds, it's much harder for me to play postflop when I'm OOP.
