Probably pointless post, but I just realized this helps me psychologically a lot.

Just turn your graph upside down and realize how big your upswing is compared to your downswing and be happy.

Later.

Watch some bad beats on youtube :) and think your not the only one losing, even the pro's have losing days.

I feel each downswing I have the easier it's getting to deal with it mentally.

This is cute haha. Easy to say for internet players, but live downswings are the worst to play through. I suggest, for anyone out there looking for an answer, that you take a break for 10-15 each time after getting stacked just to clear your head.

Well where I play live poker theres a cinema ... Nothing beats watching a movie after a bad beat, especially a good movie.. if it ends up being bad then it may have the reverse effect :) ...
Things I do when going bad live.
1. Break 5-10mins
2. Seat change
3.Table transfer
4. Watch a movie (if i'm planning to be there for a very long time*

Your right though live swings probably feel worse and time wise will last longer because you don't go through the number of hands so it can be quite dwelling. Coolers and nothing is worse when everything you do just isn't enough to get by.

I had one guy get his low card flushes all the time. And the time I did make a King high flush he had the Ace high flush ... Very frustrating :)

When on a downswing I think it's important to be able to honestly look at your state of mind. If you are feeling negative and expecting to lose (which is an easy mind set to get into when running bad) then I think it's really important to take a break. Take a day or two off and do something fun that has nothing to do with poker. When you come back feeling positive and confident you'll do way better.

Well, tackling the downswing was easy.

But today...

F*** the asshole who hit and ran my car today! And I was just innocently waiting at a juinction for my turn! It's gonna cost at least 2k USD to get the thing workable!!!

So yeah, f*** downswings at 10nl I just had a 10BI downswing equivalent to 200nl IRL, FML

Yes tilt can happen in many forms... perhaps playing after a stressful day isn't best, because it will reflect onto your game.

Clear your mind from the outside world and you need to be sucked into the game and nothing else matters.
