I understand the basic play of a short stack. If you enter a pot you're most likely going to be stacked at some point so if they are playing short stack poker as opposed to just having a bad bank roll then my question is this,

As we know, most will just try ship it pre flop with any pair, broadway cards or A,K/A,Q etc. Some will raise the flop to try draw some in because some will want to see a flop. If they miss and the guy ships it's easy chips for him to pick up and regardless of the flop most times than not will ship the flop so which is the best way to play this?

Should we call a ship pre flop with any pair 7'7s+? A,K,A,Q,A,J,A,10 maybe?

If they just do the standard raise yet we are confident they will ship the flop, do we

a:, Ship it in the hope they might fold?
b: If we hit the flop with any pair, call an all-in?

Thanks would be interesting to see how you deal with it.

I don't mind playing short stacks and was quite willing to call a ship all-in agaisn't someone who was actually smaller than a short stack, with my A,10. He had K,J and A,10 held in the end.

I'm unsure If I should of done that? Profitable long term?

Thanks.

Ak always, JJ+ always, prolly 1010, but AQ depends on the villian. Any worse aces, never IMO. You can add 77-99 depending on how aggressive and loose the player is.

I would like to hear more about how you go about getting this result. I don't think I am doing it right...

The most +ev way of playing short stacks is to move tables.

Its one less person you will make 100bb off in an AA vs KK situation.

obviously for nits that's a big issue. Others realize that AA vs KK is not the only way to make money at this game...

i thought you'd be the one to advocate playing (almost) ATC against shortstacks in order to bust them faster ;)
