What kind of strategy, setup, techniques, etc. , did you use to win the most amount of money in micro-stakes or low-stakes poker and why did it work for you?

For me it's play tight / try to play as less hands out of position / isolate weaker players / don't bluf weak players but get thin value / steal blinds of tight players / try to find the best spots which means don't stay at a table where there's only regulars

Oh and something important: when you feel that you're tilting; take a break or quit! Yesterday stayed too long at the tables and lost quite some buy-ins. I didn't want to leave, because there were so many good spots, but because of multiple beats, I didn't think clear and at the end lost two buy-ins with bad play that I normally don't do.

Good luck at the tables!

I find that if I pick my spot I will take the result either way. Where I win most of the low stakes money is omaha hi/lo because it is a fishes game. It is when I get to the higher buy ins that the beats come badly, then I go back to micro and tilt and it sucks.. Pick your spot and go for it..

I accepted that they were basically all morons and adjusted by playing many small pots aggressively and limiting substantial pots to hands that were very strong. More importantly, I just played long enough to win enough to move up to games that suit my style better.

I find that players are either bad leaky, or tight, stealy at these levels
semi bluffs are reasonably effective the times you don't have a hand, assuming your hand range and position is solid.

Focus more on your table image per individual table and the players style as these are the two factors that will give you the right insight,
things like are they limping do they utilise a optimal 3-betting strategy

There are times on awful tables they'l just limp 80% or more of the time, depending on which sites of course

I have seen winners play many different strategies. Pick what suits you personally.

True, for exemple I like to play TAG, it's the style I feel most confortable with. I know LAG should be more profitable, but I just can't handle the big swings psychologically. So that's why the style TAG suits me most and I'm winning ok money with it (as a hobby).

If you want to win, stop tilt-ing,just keep you`re game at A+,i think tilt is the reason of many players go broke

Be tight pre, play your strong hands aggressively. If your being aggressive and someone goes over the top fold unless you have the goods.

thats about it.

Yeah I have a big problem of getting married to my AA, KK, and etc.

I got stacked today because someone hit a straight with their 77 when I had AA. I should of folded, but I refused to believe he had a straight/set *sigh*

i just made that mistake too. flopped 2 pair, on a limped pot. lead out, 2 callers. turn comes completing the nut straight, got massively over-raised, so i knew the amount screamed he had AQ, but the player was a fish, and he didnt raise preflop, so i called...

tilted me a bit cuz i knew what was going on, but convinced myself he wouldnt play AQ that way.

Btw the easiest strategy on micro is TaG Bumhunting, even with the worst of luck you will keep being profitable. Just avoid clashing too much with the regs.

That's exactly my strategy on the micro full rings of Ipoker network & pokerstars.

Works perfect!

In the micro games, there are lots of newbies and fishes, so dont try anything too fancy, because they won't work. Play TAG, and let the other players make the mistakes and then capitalize on those mistakes.

Bull is spot on, as always :)
So don't try any Tom-Dwan-moves you saw on high stakes, because they won't work on the micro's :)

Learn to bet fold ! Bart Hanson's old podcasts about live poker really helped me develop my game for the micros . Just like live games , most players biggest mistakes are playing too loose and calling too much . The best way to take advantage of these habits is too play tight and learn to bet thinly for value and fold to raises . This strategy has allowed me to beat the micro games decent win rates and move up into higher stakes .

What are you sad about? Just lost a full buy in pot, got it in preflop with my JJ vs fish his A9 and lost. I still love it :)

I'm sad for the players that can't learn from their mistakes.
