whats up guys,
I was interested in knowing How much did you guys start with? How many tables did you play and how long did it take you to build up to the next stake, and so forth, anything that was key for you in succeeding that could maybe help me divert into cash from mtt/stt.

I want to start from scratch and learn all the foundations fully rather than half heartedly I think A new challenge will be exciting and B Im very inexperienced at the low micro's having only played brief amounts (1/2 tabling 50NL) and I know alot of you guys have vast amounts of experience at these stakes 4 tables and beyond and how much profit to expect based on stats and results.

Did you stick to any rules or any specific guidelines to ensure your profit was consistant (other than BRM, continuous Learning, etc)
Are there any additional tips or advice you would reccommend before I open at 5NL (4 tables)

my Goal Is to regain my gold status at 50NL but do it deservingly beating all the lower stakes along the way. Which I know wont be easy because every level has regs even .4NL In fact I dont even know if its .4 or .5 Lol
Cheers
:)

I started with 30$ 2NL and work my way up to 25NL (6max, 6tables). After aprox. 2 years of poker and a 800$ bankroll, I stopped playing because this game is dead ! The game gets tougher every month and it's not worth to play 4 full concentration hours a day to win about 300$ a month (no ups and downs). You see these pros on TV full of money and experience. Experience my a**! These guys were lucky because they started to play poker in 2000-2005 when the game was very easy to beat (not to mention the OLD lucky ones like doyle and others) ! This is the truth. I play poker only for fun now from time to time.

I gotta agree with you I've noticed improvements I play pokerstars for volume and ofcourse the fields are tough and players are improving every month in mtt's no question!
there are regs in the 3.50's making 10's of thousands over a large sample
thats one of the reasons I want to venture into cash im not making enough anymore and final tables are full of tough winning players
I wanted to make 2 k and then go straight into 50NL but Im realising Im prob going to do better at cash theirs alot of cons to mtt variance and pshycological having to restart after both winning and losing.

you might play amazing get a big stack win 4 sit n gos and then your back to square one and you have to do it alll over again it gets too much... day in day out

Started at 2NL with a €500 deposit (for the deposit bonus) almost 3 years ago. Moved up to 50NL within the same year and made supernova. Have kinda stayed at 50NL ever since cos I keep cashing out for rl stuff, plus I have long BE stretches (read fgators syndrome). I'm a winner in the game, but I would hate to calculate my hourly :)

In that time I've watched many hours of videos, read all the most well known books (some more than once) and spent a lot of time thinking and talking about the game. It's possible to beat with a lot of hard work, but that's what it takes. There is no short cut I'm afraid.

Wow thats pretty damn good! achieving supernova im assuming must be a few K a month in turnover and good knows how many hands....

Im under no illusion it will be tough, but even breaking even all those FPP's add up and they can pay for an extra bill a month or pay for a night out,if you look at it in that way. $40 dollers or more from 8 attempts in sit n gos few hundred fpps

Cafeman how many tables do you play at 50NL ?

I started from zero, then with 6.5$ started playing 2NL, after 11 months my bank is 1760$ and I am playing 25NL.

Today I am making my 1st deposit and plan to clear it in the next few months.

I think all you need is persistence.

Number of hands played per level:
2NL = 131k hands
5NL = 157k hands (includes 8k hands of 5NL Rush)
10NL = 136k hands
25NL = 4k hands

I defeated every level over a decent sample before moving up, worst was 5NL where I generally run like shit (and 2NL -> 5NL was the largest adjustment for me).

I made a lot from promotions and bonuses.

LD, that's impressive, well done.

cotta, I wouldn't play more than 4-6 if I was you. At the moment I'm playing at least 8 tables of 6max cos I am aiming to get SN again... only 10k VPPs to go!

I started with freerolls won several $ Now I play micro-stakes, stt. Unfortunately, my bankroll does not allow to play too many mtt. I have a provision for the new year deposit some amount to be able to play more tournaments mtt. I never had to pay anything to play but I would like to take a step forward

Back when I played poker for a living I started with a bankroll of 10k. I played solely live at local casinos and played both cash and tournaments. I played whatever games were available, but mostly NLHE. I played solely with the goal of building my BR to 25k so I could start my business, which I accomplished in a little under 2 years. Most of my play was 2-5 NLHE cash and NLHE tournaments with buy ins ranging from $300 to $500. Now I only play as a hobby and am currently working to build a no deposit online on Carbon through private freerolls. I'm working on some of my online leaks because I've noticed I'm a true "feel" player, which is great for live play because I can read body language and have much more "thinking" time. So as I adjust to online play, hopefully you will see me in the big ones on Carbon. If you are going to play online, I don't think you need as big of a bankroll, but definitely need a tighter BRM standard because variance seems to be much higher in micro limits. So depending on what level you are playing, this is my recommendation. If you are going to play live, I wouldn't start any less than 10k because you have to be able to keep playing through the negative fluctuations.

Been playing sporadically for a while. Got back into taking it more seruously last December. Started with £25 and had £1,000 by mid April playing mostly 4nl and a bit of 8nl/10nl.

Withdrawn all of that / spent some and won a bit more. Past year I have probably made about £2,000 as I got a bit lazy and drunk in the summer lol.

Back on it now and plan to make something better of it should I reach 4 figures again.

Blog is in BBV if anybody is interested.

Thx :) I hope to climb up to 200NL eventually (by the end of next year would be fine).

As for you, did you try putting in volume in Zoom? Win rates are smaller there but you can probably break even and grind the points quickly (1 Zoom table = 4 normal ones).

Not really played "real" cash games for a while, always switched between cash and SnG's to much. Started at $7.00, played 10c/25c SnG's after I found this forum, played 2nl up to $100; then 5nl to around $300. Got bored; moved back to SnG's because they are easier and I simply believe there is much more money to be made in SnG's and MTT's mainly. (For me personally as a player)

When I do play cash I play 50nl/100nl (cap games) on stars - which is no where near as much as I play MTT/SNG. Not sure how much I'm up in those games; but I'd guess up to $2k, including bonuses. I will play some deep cash poker from time to time, but will limit myself to 25nl but I don't really play much at all.

The key for me was accepting I'm just not as good as a cash game player as I'm in SnG/MTT's so stuck to those games as my side income and I'm up a fair bit this year. Maybe I become to lazy in trying to beat the limits for cash games for a long period so I stuck to what I know I'm profitable in, short stack poker push poker.

I feel you're like me when I first started out; can't seem to stick to one form of poker. Best thing I can advise is that; you really need to be honest with yourself and look at what you're best at and just stick at it because changing will only slow down your development as a player overall.

Agree with ramdeebam - find what you are best at and do that. Personality counts for a lot, not everyone likes infinite grind of cash games.

Thats cool advice earlier this year I switched to 50NL was only 2 tabling and I achieved gold status maintained it, then moved up and over stepped the mark to shallow.
I've never reached gold status playing sit n gos and the thing I get with sit n gos is win or lose you have start over again in the next games and you never know what your gonna get unless the sites soft, then great.

but I think maybe the choice and freedom of cash is more suitable to me (long term) also you play the same game constantly less all ins to deal with etc

I started with about 40 dollars. But later when I realized that I can build bankroll from freerolls I cashed out and started from nothing. I was always interested in MTTs, so I started playing in freerolls. My biggest freeroll winning was in the 50K GTD hungarian freeroll at BWIN (about 700 dollars) 3 years ago. I entered in that tourney via satelite freeroll. Unfortunatelly I bubbled the final table there...

Of course I played at micro GTD MTTs too. That time my bankroll was around 500. ...now I have enough bankroll to play in 0-22 dollars MTTs.
I play mainly in PS, Ipoker, Pacific network. And I hope it will be bigger. :p

Hard to say. I guess I started with $0?

I never really used to play cash at all, but I would hit a few tournaments here and there. My bankroll got started that way, and then I moved to 1/2 NL live.

Unfortunately my bankroll is quite low for the stakes at the moment, but I don't have a choice. 1/2 NL is the lowest stakes available at the casino.

I busted my deposits on Stars and Cake due to poor brm, probably @ $425 total. Deposited $300 (too much) on Bovada on June 2nd, and currently at $1915.71 including bonus and two referrals.

My cash graph is terrible; I've just had a few nice MTT scores along the way.

If I could do it again, I'd start from $0 and build it up with good bankroll discipline.
